It's not just pace .. it's intensity of play. Players were going up and down the floor but it was easy fast breaks. Standing around on offense while a big pounded the ball inside. Teams didn't have to guard 5 skilled guys on offense 30 feet from the hoop.

Wilt average over 48 mpg ... Hell a bunch of guys were smoking cigarettes. Let's see them try that today.

If you don't think players are much more athletic, better training, better nutrition, more intense today I'm not sure what to tell you.

So were the Cavs and the Celtics. OKC isn't looking like the regular season juggernaut they were (although a bit closer to it than the Cavs - WTF happened there?)

After years of seeing it here, I want to say "small guard lineup", but really it's injuries.

    c'mon man....I ain't buying that

competition was just as "intense" when the Blazers won the title in 1977; it was plenty intense when the Lakers and Celtics were battling for rings in the Bird/Magic era; it was hella intense in the Bad Boys era and later in the Jordan/Bulls era. Those Drexler led Blazer teams were intense, and they were physical. And speaking of physical, this era is the least physical NBA I've seen. There was a lot more contact; lots more leaning and bumping and pushing and grabbing in the past, Also, screens and picks were allowed to be more physical. And physical play always dials up the intensity; and likely increases the chances of injuries

so no, I'm not buying that theory unless you can show me some objective intensity gauge that can span the decades

I'm not sure there are more injuries overall right now. Maybe, maybe not. There sure as hell are more players taking rest days now. The Spurs would have won 7 or 8 championships if Duncan and Manu hadn't been injured at the end of seasons. Portland's dynasty dream crumbled when Walton and Lucas got injured

Achilles tears? yes, there does seem to be more of them. But the cause? I'm not sure but I'd say my theory about footwear is just as likely as some vague theory about intensity

    Sharpe hanging out in Beaverton.

I really like that he’s around town in the offseason. He’s a keeper if you ask me.

What are the Warriors going to do.... they SHOULD just blow it up.

I don't see a path for them to win with Curry anymore.

I think they can get helpful pieces for Kuminga and Moody. Not sure they want to trade Podz but I think he'd be attractive in the marketplace.

Rough for Golden State to have Steph get injured in this series... at the same time it's hard to feel too bad for the team or their fans after making the Finals 8 of the last 11 seasons.

Huh? Curry has only been to the Finals 6 times.

Cavs had injuries to their three best players. They tried to gut it out but they were just too hurt. They can be hopeful about the future though. They’re young. Mobley hasn’t reached his ceiling yet.

They played great 2nd half of season when healthy. They should run it back at least 1 or 2 years.

When you win 4 titles you should keep the core together.

They'll have plenty of time to rebuild in a few years.

If any of Camara Deni Scoot Sharpe get us to a title, let alone 4, I'll be happy to let that group have some swan song seasons for a few extra years and delay the next rebuild.

Always wish we had been able to experience some more of those years with the Jordan Bulls. Felt cheated we didn't get to see them naturally end their run. Instead we watched a diminished Jordan do squat on the Wizards.

Correct - 4 finals wins and 2 finals losses.

2013-2023 Warriors won a playoff series in 8 of 11 seasons. Maybe that's what he meant.
