Why Mark Cuban Sold the Dallas Mavericks When He DidFront Office Sportshttps://frontofficesports.com › mark-cuban-why-sold-m...
It was actually a Facebook comment, but yeah he said it. https://www.si.com/nba/mavericks/ne...ost-hundreds-millions-owning-dallas-mavericks "I did every damn thing I could for 23 years. Kept prices lower than not only any NBA team, but lower than college teams too. I had $2 tickets for multiple years. When I sold there were always 4k tickets under $29. I made money 2 out of 23 years I was the majority owner. Lost hundreds of millions of dollars..."
It's still bullshit. Because he also made hundreds of millions of dollars, not counting the 3.2 billion he made when he sold the team.
technically, it might not be total bullshit the Mavs, as a corporation, might have tons of loopholes, depreciation, and tax shelters that drop their income to zero, or a loss....on paper
Did not read through all the posts so this could have been discussed but Dame can spearhead an investor group and change it to " God Country Blazers"?
Being in owner limbo with an average roster, 2 bad contracts that probably can’t be traded, a meh GM/HC, and the 11th pick kinda sucks. I really hope Scoot/Sharpe break out this year.
We don't have two bad contracts. We have Jerami's and I think he has value to some teams out there... not like a FRP or anything but like a second rounder and expiring contracts, I don't think we'd have to add a pick to him to move him or take on a contract that we don't like. Other than him we have a bunch of vets on expiring contracts Deandre, Ant, Rob and Tisse. Then everyone else is on a rookie deal or Deni who might have the best contract in the league that isn't a rookie contract. I'm excited to see what Joe does, if anything, to change this roster into something that makes a little more sense. If no changes, I'll probably be pissed if Ant and Jerami are starting and if Deandre is getting more minutes than Clingan... starter between those two doesn't really matter to me as long as they're splitting time. Regardless, I'm super excited to see Shaedon, Tou, Deni and Scoot play and to see who we get with the 11th pick if we keep it. I don't think it's likely that we hear anything more about ownership for a little while but I'm equal parts excited and apprehensive to see who it will be when the team is sold and where the team goes from there. I think it's a really exciting time to be a fan of the team and I can definitely be a pessimist but we have really promising young talent, a late lotto pick and we know that at some point soonish (probably in this upcoming season) ownership change and maybe some roster change before that. Also interested to see who they bring in to fill the newly vacated assistant coaching roles.
Wait, Dan is from San Diego...I'm all for San Diego getting another chance at an NBA team (I mean hell, if the NHL is contemplating giving Atlanta a 3rd NHL team...), but not like this!
They have to play to break out. CB has no use for them. Front office gave him a new contract so they are all in agreement. I look forward to seeing them play for another team that is not beholding to a bunch of useless vets.
I don't know if you guys have heard this, but Phil Knight isn't interested in buying the Blazers anymore.
