    Brain dead Georgia woman is being kept on life support against wishes if her family. She had severe headaches but was sent home with pain meds, no tests run. Studies show women and people of color less likely to have complaints of pain taken seriously and Black pregnant women less likely to have intervention during maternal distress but we are no longer allowed to research these things. Her boyfriend found her convulsing and unable to breathe. The condition might have been treatable earlier but she has permanent irreversible brain damage. Since Georgia bans all abortion, turning off life support would kill fetus so family forced to keep her hooked up to machines for months until she can be delivered. They are responsible for bills even though against their wishes. Also, fetus shows signs of serious damage. Family would be responsible for the child's special needs.

    The perfect woman. Uterus, no brain.

    Heritage Foundation, right wing Christian nationalists behind Project 2025, have launched Project Esther to root out anti-Semitism. Not the people who shouted Jews will not replace us, or Hitler wannabe January 6 defendant, or Hitler loving Trump dinner guest Nick Fuentes, or those trying to end the secular democracy that allowed Jewish Americans to thrive. In fact Heritage Foundation opposes secular democracy. The project is to crush pro Palestinian movement. To that end they are launching "investigations". Starting with right's favorite whipping boy George Soros. Also being investigated, Governor JB Pritzger, Senators Bernie Sanders and Adam Schiff, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky. See a pattern?

    Right wing Christian nationalists claiming to fight anti-Semitism by "investigating" Jews.

    US supreme court blocks religious charter school in split ruling
    Justices’ 4-4 ruling leaves intact lower court’s decision that blocked establishment of Oklahoma school


    The US supreme court on Thursday blocked an attempt led by two Catholic dioceses to establish in Oklahoma the nation’s first taxpayer-funded religious charter school in a major case involving religious rights in American education that challenged the constitutional separation of church and state.

    The 4-4 ruling left intact a lower court’s decision that blocked the establishment of St Isidore of Seville Catholic virtual school. The lower court found that the proposed school would violate the US constitution’s first amendment limits on government involvement in religion.

    The conservative justice Amy Coney Barrett recused herself from the case, leaving eight justices rather than the full slate of nine to decide the outcome. Barrett is a former professor at Notre Dame Law School, which represents the school’s organizers.

    When the supreme court is evenly divided, the lower court’s decision stands. The justices did not provide a rationale for their action in the unsigned ruling. It was not disclosed how each member of the bench voted, though it is likely that the three liberal-leaning justices favored upholding the block and if that was indeed the case it poses the intriguing question of which conservative-leaning justice joined them.

    That isn't rock bottom. People have the right to raise their children in their religion and pay for it.

    Good. Practice whatever religion you want. Teach it to your kids if you want. But, keep it out of schools. Separation of Church and State remains as it should. Good to see the SC following the constitution. It would be great if the executive branch and the legislative branch follow suit.

    Or to mosque on Friday. Synagogue on Saturday. Or whatever. They support their congregation. I have no problem.

    I didn't know where else to post it. Yes, it's good news... for now. They will file another case from which Amy Coney Barrett won't have to recuse herself.

    Number of US white nationalist groups falls by 5%!

    The 5% drop in hate and extremist groups in 2024 can be attributed to the fact that many feel a lesser sense of urgency to organize, because their beliefs have infiltrated politics, education and society in general.

    Children's health plan put out by noted pediatricians brain worm, wrestling executive Linda McMahon and Nazi Stephen Miller. It calls for better nutrition and exercise while conveniently ignoring the Republican budget that cuts billions from food aid and recreational programs. It does not restore eliminated NIH studies on infant cardiac disease or causes of childhood obesity. It does not address food deserts or lack of parks and playgrounds in poor communities. It ignores drastic cuts to prenatal care. It does not mention #1 cause of death for American children and teens, gun violence.

    The solution to all of these problems would be considered socialism. Even though the countries most like us which have used those solutions to solve them are capitalist democracies.

    In other words, blame lazy parents. Food costs up and food aid slashed but poor people are at fault.

    Shame on PBS! As part of their American Masters series, they are running a piece on cartoonist Art Spiegelman. Writers were ordered to delete a 90 second segment in which Spiegelman criticizes Trump.
