Democratic unseated two term Republican for mayor of Omaha despite being outspent 2-1 and despite Omaha being a fairly well run city. Incumbent could not get away from association with Trump. When polls started showing she could lose, Republican ran anti trans ads because of course biggest issue facing Omahans. Didn't work. She still lost. In Nebraska.

This is fucking brilliant. In Scotland, trans women protested topless outside Parliament to protest cuts in National Health Service for gender affirming care. To arrest them for indecent exposure, as their breasts were in full display, government would have to acknowledge they are in fact and law women, as it is legal for men to bare their chests in public but not women.
Big Ugly Bill originally banned gender affirming care for minors but that wasn't hateful enough so in last minute move changed to everyone.
Yep. Yesterday was my birthday. I slicked back my hair and had a passport photo taken that looks masculine enough that nobody in the government will think to hold my passport renewal hostage. When I get that back I can sit on it until my job fires me for being trans. Then I will go to the hairdresser, ask him to give me a boring man’s haircut, and then I will get the fuck out of this country while there is still time.

My job is pretty good, I’m a low-level white collar functionary for a major sportswear company. But tariffs are fucking with their whole thing and they might end up laying off a bunch of people. I’m a little embittered so I grouse that it’ll be because I’m trans but it’s just as likely it’ll just be because they’re losing a bunch of money to the bastard’s trade war. Either way, the severance and ability to leverage my entire 401k are the key. Once I have those I can make my move.
