Although the Sonics managed to win two in a row against the 70-win Bulls (after going down 3-0...)

Payton says it was switching him on to Jordan that changed things. Jordan takes that personally.

If OKC loses, will schools be required to teach it was fraud?

It's part of the grand NBA conspiracy to get small markets stars and titles.

Yeah LeBron summed it up pretty well once when he said that one year you have to be the best player on the team with the best record, the next year you might have to have the best all around stats or set a record, the next year it might just be you being a solid defender who is the league scoring leader but he said it's rarely just as simple as these voters just trying to vote for who they think was the best player in the league that year.

People can accuse LeBron of a lot of stuff but not being able to figure out the politicking of the NBA landscape isn't something common with this guy. He knows who to be tough with and whose ass to kiss to get what he wants out of this game but for good reason (it's an absolute joke) he could never figure out the criteria that the sports writers use for their MVP voting. One good thing to me is that I've never seen someone entirely undeserving get the MVP. So while you think the Joker got screwed again, he does have three MVPs and SGA definitely was among the handful of most valuable players in the league this season.

It just went to the scoring leader on the team with the best record this year instead of the guy who played the best and had record setting stats that were meaningful to winning.

Kind of expected, but super disappointing.

I'd have voted for Jokic. Switch SGA and Jokic - Thunder would have been even better - I'm not sure the Nuggets would've made the playoffs.

Thunder were a far better roster and go 11 deep thats why they won 68 games. SGA was great, but he was just a normal top5 MVP candidate, nothing remarkable.

I think voters just don't like voting for repeat MVP. Similar issue when Embiid won one over Jokic, or Derrick Rose, Harden, Westbrook, etc winning one.

This is the perfect example of the dichotomy between either favoring the best player in the league overall or the best player on the best team. I think more often than not the award goes to the best player on the best team, even though that person might not be the best player in the entire league.

I was curious about the contention that SGA is drawing fouls at too high a rate...so I looked at average FTA's in the playoffs this season:

    compared to last season:

Everyone was making such a fuss but he only took 14.

I was furious when Harden was getting like 26 FTA in a game.
