Fair enough, for board fodder. I would just temper expectations. I never got over the Joe Sakic debacle from '97.
Don't forget the current team has an advantage, per the CBA they can offer an 8-year deal and other teams can only offer a 7-year deal, that does give Edmonton the edge. While I think it's an absolute pipedream the Oilers would ever let the best player in the NHL leave, regardless of what Draisaitl makes, I do think it is a good board discussion as Panzer wrote. When the dust settles, I expect the Oilers will re-sign McDavid for $16M-$17M per over 7 or 8 seasons, which wouldn't kick in until 26-27, when the cap is up 7 or 8 million.
Looks like I overestimated Dallas maybe Hintz not playing was a bigger deal and I thought. If McDavid wins a cup, I think he’ll come to New York. He’s back tonight, but he looks rusty.
SCF rematch here we come. The Oilers were on the ropes big time against the Kings in round 1 but got out of a down 2-0 in the series, down multiple goals in game 3 situation to win the series, and the rest is history as they've been dominant since then. While I think the SCF can go either way and I wouldn't be surprised, I won't pick against the Oilers again. I think the Oilers win the Cup this year, especially with home ice where they are great. If Edmonton wins it will end the 32-year drought for Canadian teams not winning the Cup.
That is a big loss, makes the upcoming Florida SCF even more of a coin toss than I already thought it would be.
Florida with 3 goals in just over four and a half minutes to take the lead. Could put the Canes out of their misery tonight. The Conference Finals round has been down in both the NHL and NBA this season, all four series were 3-1. You may get two series end in 5 tonight, OKC game is over, and we'll see if Florida holds on. And tomorrow night you could see the other two series end in 5, although I think the Stars and Knicks could force those series to game 6's.
