I'm obviously in the minority, but I'm at least listening if it's GG, 2 frp's and 2 srp's. Can't stand Clark but I'm sure he's needed for salaries. I'd also want to somehow gauge the likelihood of Deni resigning here. GG Jackson is a guy that I can see becoming the star scorer that we need. He can shoot from deep, gets to the hoop easily and is a good passer. When he came out the question was about his maturity, but it hasn't been brought up since. The draft picks would be icing. I'm just not sure if Deni can play his style and stay healthy and affective over time. Not saying I'd do it, but I'd at least take some time to think about it. GG would have to be a part of the return.
I think my concern is health.... it seems like all of those guys have real injury issues. At least Scoot and Shae aren't making max money right now, and we might be able to get them on significantly better contracts than what Ball is getting. But Ball is dice roll that could pay off. He's an All-Star. He's really good when he's healthy. Same issue as Zion.
Ball under Billups would be interesting. He’d make life so much easier for Clingan. I’d do it IF he’s even available. Big no on Brown. He’s good but that mega-max contract will turn toxic, just you watch.
If the judgment by Cronin/Schmitz is to trade one or both, good. Don’t stick with them too long just because they drafted them. It’s not a great look, but flipping them for players who fit better? I’m up for that. With that said … I haven’t given up on either one. The salary structure of the team NEEDS fixing. Call it recalibration or whatever. No one expects Ayton, Grant, Ant, TimeLord and Thybulle to be Blazers long term. Three of them have been starters and that is changing soon enough. And I don’t expect more than a couple — at most — to actually remain beyond their current contracts. If Scoot and Sharpe aren’t the dudes we hope them to be, and other useful guys can be brought in, okay. The rebuild is not complete.
This is going to be a VERY unpopular opinion ( i think ) but I would rather give up / trade Sharpe over Scoot not because I think Scoot has more talent cause i think Sharpe edges him out but because I think Scoot has the fire to be better. I wanna make something clear not saying Sharpe SHOULD be traded just saying I am more open to a Sharpe trade then a Scoot trade
We're nowhere yet with Scoot and Shae. It's silly to see some posters including them in trades. I highly doubt the organization is too interested in giving them up before they've gotten a full opportunity. Move Ant and let Scoot/Shae run the backcourt.
LaMelo is on a supermax contract and has been injured more than half the games recent years. Concerning that his play does nothing to help a team win. I wouldn't want him at any price.
Zion has played at a way higher level than Ball when healthy. Their totally incomparable. Zion team had close to the best record in the league at points in multiple seasons. I wouldn't want either, Zion off court stuff and health is way worse. But Ball might just be a flashy Michael Carter Williams. That's a player who looks far better than he is because he's on a horrific team.
The thing with these players on a $200+ million contract is you have to build the whole team around them. This isn't when the Blazers bought low on JR Rider and you can just have them as an extra piece. They would need to be the foundation of the team. The Pacers built their team around Haliburton and Siakam. Do you think LaMelo can lead the Blazers franchise? I certainly would not want that experiment.
Do they have a top two pick in this draft? No they do not. I don't think they have anything to tempt us, really. I mean, we traded AWAY from a first rounder to GET Deni last year, why would we reverse course?
