What an incredibly beautiful day! Sun was warm against the back, but just enough breeze to keep one from breaking a sweat.
Picked up my mother in Newberg and took wine country roads to Hillsboro to watch my niece from up in Seattle, come down here to play in a softball tourney, while being checked out by Lewis & Clark colleges scouts.. Unfortunately she didn't play too well. She had a nice hit but had 2errors fielding at 2nd base.

But if this was not an absolutely perfect day, I dont know what is.
Hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.

Had a fantastic Father’s Day. Highlighted by my father in law taking all of us on a tour of the Pearl District to show us some of his 25+ building he designed and had built. Been trying to get him to do this for years. As a retired architect it’s still his passion. Amazing time had by all. Beautiful day in my city to walk around for sure.

Ate at the Powell one many times with friends. There was one in Milwaukie too on McLoughlin blvd.

Most of my HS buddies worked at either the Milwaukee Whizburger or the nearby Pietro's Pizza. They would meet on their lunch breaks so they could swap their free lunches (burgers for pizza and vice versa). Unfortunately, when I saw and heard some of the antics that went on at those places I started to take my business elsewhere. But my favorite Whizburger was the one on 39th, a block north of Hawthorne. I think that might have even been the last one standing. But the Whiz was a great late night option after a night of partying and gut bombs were needed to soak up the beer before stumbling home.....

If you guys ever are out in Gresham, check out Dea's in and out. That was my dads hang out as a kid. It still is around. Deep fried mushrooms are great.

Man it was amazing just to hear all the details about how projects came together and all it took to get that district going. Loved seeing all the pride he took in his work. He also did Skamania Lodge, some amazing covered bridges and other random projects. More of a dad to me than my real dad……
