But it's HOW YOU PLAYED in those preseason games. I would almost bet that in those years that you're stating, those Redskins played well in them. You can't tell me that in these 3 preseason loses that they played good.
We do not look impressive at all in terms of putting drives together, but that comes with the winless record almost every time. I do agree that we need to put some good drives together in our last pre-season game vs. the Ravens or we may be in trouble for the Monday Night Football game vs. Minnesota.

Why does everyone think that Duckett is doing this himself anyway? If anything Duckett will get 10-15 carries and Betts will do the rest.</div>Once again, I'm going to have to disagree with you. There are plenty 3rd picks who either are starters or a major contributor to their teams. They don't have to start right away but a year from now they are starters. Here's a few that I found:Antonio Freeman, Tedy Bruschi, Terrell Owens, Jason Taylor, Mike Vrabel, Jeremiah Trotter,Curtis Martin, Ahman Green, Hines Ward, Joey Porter, Dat Nguyen, Darrell Jackson,Laveranues Coles, Steve Smith, Akin Ayodele, Brian Westbrook Jason Witten, Chris Cooley. Those are a few players that I thought may have starter or played in all 16 games when they were drafted. And if not they are close to doing so or were big contributors to their teams.I believe your first day picks in the drafts, with the exception of quarterback situations on teams looking for quarterbacks, those picks should be considered more than not starters for the opening season or big contributors or great depth at their respected position. And if you look at those players that I named 11 of them played a BIG part on getting their teams to a Superbowl. 4 of them are on teams that are possibly contending for a Superbowl this year. Just naming those players show just how important your 3rd round picks are. And how giving them away for a 1st round draft pick like Duckett, who didn't pan out, just doesn't add up.And what I found interested in those picks, look at the coaches who drafted them. Either they are Superbowl coaches or very respectable coachs in the league. So this is proof that you do have to build your team through the draft and getting your picks away and expensive free agencys.I'm not saying that there is not any bust but they are just as many players in the first and second round that are bust....ie Duckett! But your first day picks are to be traded for a player or players that are worth a 3rd round. In the four years that Duckett has been in the league his totally rushing yards is 2175. The question is is he worth a 3rd round. Would you pick him in the 3rd round knowing what you know now? BIG FAT NO! I think the running again is an area of concern for the Redskins. Again, this doesn't mean that they will not contend for the playoffs. But going into the season I had Washington picked to win the division. Now I see a wild card. And it doesn't really matter as long as you get to the playoffs. But I believe the road just got harder.

You can't.</div>I would almost bet that there would be RB's in the 3rd round. There always is. At least better than Duckett. At best Duckett was no higher than a 4th rounder. I hate even saying that because he was a pretty good college back but the truth is in the pudding. The problem with the Redskins is Daniel Synder! He reminds me so much of Jerry Jones trading away the future to win now. And it DOES NOT work. I've seen it first hand. And you can't name a team in the NFL who's done that. You will NEVER win a champion overpaying players and wasting your draft picks. And that's exactly what Synder is doing. He is ice on a sidewalk...he has not patience! He's too busy trying to keep up with the Jones that he's forgetting what's important. And what's surprising to me is that Joe Gibbs is buying into that crap of mortaging off your future for right now. When in fact Gibbs is one of the best coaches and he has all the time in the world to do it right. At least in Washington he does...
Not that I agree with you or anything about saying it's impossible for a team to be successful unless they build through the draft... but... the reason Gibbs has gone along with Snyder on this is, he doesn't have a whole lot of time left on his contract to help us.

He should have a lifetime contract with the Redskins. And if he wanted more time, I'm sure he could get it. And if he doesn't get more time (that's if he even wants it), then Synder should be ran out of town.
Joe Gibbs won't coach when his time is up here, he's just going to live out his contract. He's so old to be coaching, anyway.
