My knee jerk take is, this if a fucking terrible move. Jrue is coming off of one of his worst seasons, has three years on this contract... it makes us older and seemingly would be a barrier for Scoot getting starts and experience.

We went from hopes of a first and 1-2 years of bad money to a washed 35 year old owed 100 mil over 3 years. And to add insult to injury, we paid extra picks for the privilege.

No, this definitely signals that the Blazers want to play with an identity. No weak links on defense.

We now traded Dame, Ant, Nurk and Nas for Jrue, Ayton, Tou... most of Deni (one of the picks we sent to Washington was from another trade), a 2029 FRP and FRP swaps in 2028 and 2030.

Hmm, wish he wasn’t 35. Was he still a lock down defender last year?

I feel like he’s getting dealt again.

His defense will be much better next year. Guaranteed.

This might also indicate they are more likely to take somebody ready to play in the draft, rather than someone with more long term potential?

I mean Ayton is an expiring but Grant and Holiday sure do seem to be rough contracts.

Ayton, Grant, all of Milwaukee’s draft assets, and who knows how many first round picks for Giannis?

I don't mind this deal at all as long as it means Scoot and Sharpe starting.

Also, Holiday even at his age, is far more attractive to a contender than Ant. I can see teams wanting to give real value for Jrue.

I think Jrue will be helpful to our young backcourt and team.

Yeah he's old and money left isn't ideal, but he's still a better player than Ant and fits what this team wants to be while also allowing Scoot and Shae to play more on the ball and see what we really have in them.

    Thumbs up for me.

I bet we see another trade. The pick and maybe Ayton for an upgrade at some position???

Yeah, if the idea is that Jrue will come off the bench then I hate this trade a lot less. I just doubt that's what we'll do.
