Player-coach Jrue to turbocharge the development of this roster - that’s their vision with this move IMO Carter makes the most sense - although we’ll likely have to leapfrog Phoenix to draft Bryant.
He’s the new pick at 11 on ESPN, who usually get our pick right. My gut is still saying we trade the pick.
I don't think we make the pick or at least we don't keep the person picked there. I guess we'll all see soon.
I'd be surprised if they don't draft a 4 or a 5. Most of their team is made up 2/3s it's absurd. I am hoping for Carter Bryant now.
I hope we don’t. Wishful that we package 11 and Grant/Ayton and another asset to get a significant “Help us now” player
I actually think Carter could be in the rotation and help immediately. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea.
Without moves I think it would be pretty hard for a rookie not named Flagg to find PT on this roster. Just spitballing because I really have no idea who would start but lets just say: Jrue, Shaedon, Tou, Jerami, Ayton, Deni (super sixth man kinda fits his game), Scoot, Clingan, Tisse... if Bryant can get PT away from anyone in that nine man rotation not to mention if Rob is healthy that would be really impressive.
I hope to God our starting lineup is Scoot Shae Tou Deni Ayton I'm hoping Grant gets sent out, leaving your backups. Jrue Matisse Bryant Clingan Murray, Rupert are irrelevant. I can see a case for Walker if they keep him.
Yeah I think a lot of us are in shock about this trade. I hope you're right, I like that rotation a lot more than one where Jrue, Jerami and Deandre have to start because they're all making so much. It's nice to know that everything is still up in the air. Just keeping my fingers crossed that things shake out in a way that makes sense.
I think a lot depends on how Shaedon and Scoot look to be honest. If either one of those guys really pops over the summer either one could be our number one option. Deni could definitely fit the Manu type of sixth man role where he still is one of the guys who plays the most minutes but we get him a sixth man of the year award. I do think you're right that if we just go by what we last saw, Deni is the number one option but with a team this young and a roster that still seems like it's in flux we'll just have to wait and see.
I'm not saying that's what it's going to be, I'm saying the organization wants to push his limits to see how high on the pecking order he can become going forward. He's not going to be coming off the bench.
Here is my conundrum. I wanted Portland to get Deni in the draft. I fully expected him to be a great player. But reports are Memphis wants to back up the truck for him. Depending on what they are offering, I would rather have the truck load than Deni being the sixth man on a team that does not need a sixth man. They are still trying to identify their first option. Not moving off Grant is crazy, and getting Holiday equally perplexing. Waiting for the next domino to drop.
