When you want a first round pick just consider anything else a first round pick and it’s like a first round pick, even if it’s not a first round pick. After all, is an actual First round pick any better than an imaginary first round pick? With an actual first round pick, you have to draft a particular player with it. But with an imaginary first round pick, you could draft anybody - even the player you would draft with an actual first round pick.

Your post is just as depressing lol.

I don't like the contract, that's for sure. But the rest I am more than find with. Scoot and Sharpe can learn a lot from Jru, either starting or playing behind him.

It's kind of like Spurs getting CP3 or the Rockets getting VanVleet. I know CP3 was on a cheap contract, but regardless Holiday will teach this team a lot.

There is also the chance we just re trade him as well.

Too many fans in here get too high or too low whenever we do something lol

This feels like Houston getting FVV, an older, championship veteran PG to play next to a bunch of young players and a defense first coach.

Not what I expected at all. But honestly, last year's team was the one I enjoyed most since the 2018-2019 team and it was mostly because of the defense. I like Ant and he clearly tried harder on defense last year, but this move feels more about Shae than Scoot, it is now a Deni and Shae team on offense - and it wasn't before.

Some big time Drama Queen Arm-Chair-GMs in here.

WTF don’t you just wait and see what else we do before tomorrow prior to jumping off of a building

Gotta wait and see how things unfold. Obviously not many if any saw this coming. I figure some things depend on how the draft goes. Then of course there is teams like the Kings and Mavs that will want to move players.
I'm just not sold that this will be the only thing the Blazers try but the thought of Grant-Jrue-Ayton-Sharpe-Deni-Camara-Scoot-Clingan-Thybule-Williams seems like they have one heck of a defensive team. Billups preaches defense so maybe this is what he is looking for?

What a headline to wake up to! Curious what Celtics fans think about getting Ant, I’m going to hear all about it at work today (I work for the Commonwealth, based in Gloucester on the North Shore)

I totally understand the reasoning so far. We all wanted Ant gone for Shaedon to have more playing time. Here we are. You will see wednesday evening how little value the 2nd rounders could have. This is meaningless in this trade. And for the money, we won't pay Ayton past this year, so the 2 more Jrue years are not so problematic when speaking about aprons and tax.

Now wait and see what's next. I would guess it's not over.

A bit surprised but like people said, wait and see. I wish Ant well. Couldn't understand the hate. He might not have been best for this team at this time but not a bad person.

Yeah I can’t think a couple second round picks are a deal breaker.

This is done on big news threads because we want everyone to be able to see them right?
I mean if you let it go all Willy Nilly we would end up with 4 or 5 threads only certain people could see.
So our Mods step in and save themselves a bunch of work!

Maybe Joe thinks that he can get more for Holiday at the trade deadline?

Holiday is the premier defensive guard of the last decade. Simons is the complete opposite. Watching Simons defend his opponent was a sight to behold.

Simons is/was a glorified bucket getter off the bench.

This was a chess move by Joe. He sent Simons to Boston to have a great scoring year with Tatum out, get extended, then sabotage their D and help ensure that their 2029 1RP is in the lotto.

Damn we all assumed he was possibly joining a team playing there in the Magic. Never would have dreamed it might be to play for the Celtics. I wonder if he new there was a chance of it.

Simons seems about the most anti Celtic I can think of in the last 5 years. Will be interesting if we see a change in Ant game, change in the Celtics play, or it just completely fails.

I'm just hoping one of Ayton Grant is dealt.

All three of the AntGrantAyton was unbearable. Thankfully we'll have two at the worst. Now if we can get to one of them I'll be happy to keep him as a vet *leader". I despise Ayton the most on the court, but Grant has the worst contract.

I wouldn't be shocked if the Blazers pay tax - the bill is due a year from July and there'll be different owners then.

If the Blazers stay out of the luxury tax the hard cap is irrelevant. The hard cap is $5 million more than the luxury tax limit.

Id certainly call Dallas Milwaukee Minnesota Sacramento. Any of them have trouble at the draft or free agency and I could see them overpaying for Jrue.

I think the Blazers did this deal with the idea to hold onto Jrue though.

For next season on the court I really like the deal.

In 2028 I'm going to hate it.
