Media doesn’t care about PDX so maybe it was in the interview?

I came here to see all the verbal and mental gymnastics done to turn this into a good trade for us... 35 years old, still owed 100M...

Yeah, I've been trying to spin it. The fact is that other than last season Jrue is way better than Ant. If you think last season is a trend line then Joe definitely fucked up but if you think last season was just a matter of health that Jrue can come back from then we got the better part of the deal.

I'm hoping we flip Jrue because I always wanted Ant traded to free up time and the ball for Shae and Scoot. I shoud probably trust my initial reaction which was that this deal just doesn't make sense for our team as constructed.

Even last year jrue had positive BPM where Ant was negative, but it true that the delta between was closer to 1.0 BPM where it was 2 and higher before

Yeah, if you think Jrue is as good as last season or he can even come back up a little then he had more value than Ant. I just don't know if that value makes sense here. Still hoping for another trade or trades to make this first one make sense. It could be flipping Jrue or it could be a bunch of shit I don't even see coming.

Holiday is a better overall player and fits the defensive culture. Once Grant/Ayton are moved, Holiday’s salary will be a nonstarter if we keep him. And if we do we trade him in a year or so to free up the salary for a Deni extension.
Not spin, just actual opinions. :)

Holiday doesn't need the ball in his hands like Ant so that frees up more ball time for Scoot and Shae.

    win win in my book.

over the last 5 seasons he's played on teams that averaged 57 wins, played in 70 playoff games, and won two championships

he's 35 years old, entering his 17th season, and will be going to his 5th team; and playing for a 4 year lottery team in a conference that isn't getting weaker. If he isn't a little bit pissed-off and disappointed, it would be amazing. He may not fully buy-in to what Joe and Chauncey are selling,
however, I've seen nothing in his past that suggests he won't be professional in his approach to the Blazers

I would imagine he'd welcome a follow-up trade to a contender, but the odds of that, now, seem really low

Yeah thats a very fair way of summarizing it.

Was Jrue decline last season an unusual health year or indicative of his age? If health and he bounces back this could be a home run. If its age then we're really screwed.

If they get a FRP out of re-routing him, I would not be too happy with Joe.

I heard that Joe is demanding 3 FRP for Jrue.

So no matter what happens with Ant - Joe has now proven he clearly won the trade.
