So many I assume you want Trump to face jail time for his 34 felony convictions? And when ICE deports a legal immigrant or deports against judicial order you want the individual returned to this country and prosecution of those who carried out deportation?
Does anyone believe you were sympathetic to immigrants until people started saying Trump should be held accountable for his adjudicated crimes and now favor mass deportation? I don't. And rather than debate people who lie and say stupid things, the cat box might need cleaning. More productive use of time.
You seem to have an obvious double standard: one for Trump, and a very different one for the millions of people who have entered the country illegally.
Why couldn't they have the option to stay and pay a fine? If they are committing other crimes (beyond being undocumented) nobody has a problem with them being deported. But if they aren't committing crimes why not just document them and fine them? That's more money into our coffers. We already know they commit crime at lower rates than US citizens. We already know they are an economic benefit to us. What does being cruel and splitting up families solve? That just weakens the middle class more, and leaves more households in poverty.
If Trump could be indicted for over-estimating the value of his home on a loan application, people who have broken our immigration laws can certainly be sent back home.
So cruelty is the point then? Even though it hurts our economy, increases crime rates, and creates more poverty? Incredibly illogical. Very difficult to respect that opinion.
How is that relevant? Those million people probably had some place they could go. And they chose to go there to avoid cruelty here. Forcing people away from their families to go someplace where they don't have opportunities or support structure is obviously far more cruel than allowing somebody to go there if they choose to do so. Cruel to the person you forced to leave as well as the family you stole that person from. Who will now almost certainly sink into poverty or ( or sink deeper into poverty) without the help of that family member. We don't live in a fairy tale in which everyone has the same ability to uproot their whole families. In the real world, forcibly splitting up families and unnecessarily sending part of that family to a different country is cruel.
But we do live in a world where some Americans apply the strictest possible interpretation of the law to their own president, but apply no law at all to millions of people who have entered the country illegally.
It is a false fantasy world. Those people are required to follow the same laws you and I are. Your taco king didn't get deported or even go to jail. Yet you want these people's lives destroyed over paperwork, even though doing so is negative in every way for our society, and our country as a whole. If you don't see that as cruel you clearly lack a moral compass. If you don't see it as stupid and unnecessary you must be lacking IQ. You're clearly not worth discussing anything serious with.
The left did everything in their power to destroy Trump, including impeachments, indictments, raiding his home, trying to take him off the ballot, and trying to kill him. Their hatred of him, their own president, knows no bounds. Yet they are full of love and compassion for people who have invaded our country by the millions, been given credit cards, free lodging and cell phones, and been the recipients of benefits not even given to our homeless veterans. Many of these illegal immigrants are gang members, criminals, drug dealers, rapists, and human smugglers, not to mention agents of foreign governments, and yet the left thinks this kind of “diversity” makes us stronger. You have to be a special kind of stupid to be a liberal.
I don't care about your left vs right agenda. It's a toxic and stupid distraction. We have the data. Undocumented immigrants commit all crime at lower rates than US citizens. Undocumented immigrants literally lower the instance of crime per capita in the United States. They pay taxes into the system to support our services, are less likely to be able to receive tax rebates, and commit less crime than Americans. There is literally no reason to target them (beyond getting them documented) other than to be cruel or try to distract the general population.
Private prisons were big Trump donors and getting rewarded with taxpayer money to imprison immigrants. The idea of making money of imprisoning people is morally repugnant for many and clearly open to abuse but Trump is a sociopath for whom world divided into winners and losers and for losers any cruelty goes. Immigrants convicted of no crime, many of whom were here legally, report inadequate and moldy food, foul smelling water. One woman described adults fighting children for water. Sleep on bare shelves. Three toilets for hundreds of people. Guards screaming day and night. Where have we seen this before? Germany 1930s. Also Oliver Twist.
