I'm thinking a swap from the Lakers or Knecht for Ayton is fair for both sides. Main issue I could see is if the Lakers are hoping to get more rotational players with such a big salary slot. Could be similar concerns from any other potential suitors. Ultimately might need to wait until the deadline which will be annoying. Maybe there's a way to try to get him to give a decent amount back in a buyout.
Portland does it for a couple of 2nds, and a flyer on Smith. We waive Okogie. Kleber and Vincent provide veteran depth to a team looking to win, but also gives us more easily tradeable contracts at the deadline. Lakers get a stopgap for minimal cost. Hornets take a flyer on a young C
National radio syndicate was talking about the Lakers should go after Ayton, but didn't mention what they would give up. Any chance a deal can be made to get Austin Reaves? I know little about their situation and assets or lack of.
He kind of doesn't fit the defensive archetype that Cronin has been adding but in terms of talent yeah Knecht plus filler seems fair.
Then I'm out. I don't know much about reaves to know what he should command. Ive just heard he is their best young player and fits our shooting PF needs i think. How about Ayton/RW3 and a future 1st for Reaves and salary filler?
They have three wings that I think they would give up first all of whom they'd play (Rui, DFS and Vando with Vando being the most likely) they also have two vets that are not very good but are on expiring 111M contracts in Vincent and Kleber. I'd do this trade and I think they would to, maybe some on here want to extract more value out of Ayton, especially if it's a contender who desperately needs him to start but I'd be good with getting rid of him. We'd waive Vincent and Kleber.
Don't love Vando's contract, but I'd probably do it as well. Ideally get some 2nds for taking on the longer contract/giving up the better player. Still would prefer Knecht in there somewhere. As I mentioned earlier, I'd probably keep Kleber and Vincent around as salary matching at the deadline. No point in waving them and paying them anyways. Would make decent vet backups.
There’s no real incentive for us to do this. I’d just let Ayton walk. I need either Knecht or a pick.
Also, if win now if indeed the intent nxt season, DA still best of all bigs we have. Given he has expiring contract, either we keep him or deal him but only if we can get a first or quality young
crap. See thats how much i know about him. Lol. Is he a SF? Maybe he isn't as much of a need filler like i thought
