Free Agent Targets

Free agency is coming up Monday. Do the Blazers sign anyone? They’re currently at 13 guaranteed contracts without Jabari, Dalano and Duop. Duop has a team option.

We have access to the full MLE and could use a shooter. I like Ajay Mitchell, but dunno if the Thunder would match a cheap deal.

 

We obviously need more shooting. I'd target a backup 2/3.

Malik Beasley, Ty Jerome, NAW, Quentin Grimes, Luke Kennard, Amir Coffey are all guys that shoot 38%+ from 3 who are all likely MLE level players. Not sure we'd be any of their's first choice, but I suppose for enough money.

 

Bol Bol would be my first choice.

Re-sign Jabari Walker too

 

Think it also depends if we expect to trade Grant or Ayton. Very likely we get more players back in that type of deal.

Any other restricted free agents we might consider? Kuminga is the only name I've heard mentioned around here.

Hey, you know what they say about the modern NBA... you've got to have 6 Centers on your 15 man roster and one more on a two way, obviously.

 

We have a full roster already. I'm not tempted by any of the FAs out there - any good ones will be priced out of our reach anyway.

 

whar even is our rozter? 5 centers. and no shooting anywhere.

For better or for worse, I can't say he hasn't been aggressive lately.

 

Re-sign Bari.

The only UFA I have real interest in is Jake Laravia.

 

I'd try to retain Bari. He's productive and his three ball seems to be getting better. Let's build on that.

Everyone else can be acquired via a Grant or Ayton deal.

 

Even though I really like Bari a lot, we have to leave those roster spots open because I don't think we're looking for a one to one trade for Ayton and if we're looking to trade Jerami, which I hope we are, then I don't see that as a one to one trade. So we have to assume we're taking back more players than we're sending out in upcoming trades and due to the fact that Bari has been a spot minutes guy who couldn't get any time when we were playing all of our best guys, I'd let him wait or walk.

 

I believe Walker is a RFA.

15 man Roster limit isn't until October so we don't need to wait on either of these now.

 

more importantly, he is a pretty damn good rebounder, doesn't complain, and will be inexpensive

 

Like Walker, but why do we need him?
