Rob Williams is likely sticking around now?

Shame because I thought we could extract some value from him, but I suppose it's unlikely they go with DC/Yang/Duop as the only bigs?

Can never predict with this FO.

Held onto him too long. I don’t see how anyone would trade for him now.

How are we going to get value for him if he never plays? I like going into the season with DC and Williams splitting minutes. If he is balling at the trade deadline, someone may make a decent offer. I do not think we get anything for him at present with his injury history. Until Yang proves anything , I have him deep on the bench and Duop as the third big.

Rob Williams can play the 4 or 5..he's a perfect backup 4 off the bench or small ball

By extract value do you mean a mediocre 2nd round pick?

Timelord can legit play PF unlike our other centers.

I'm happy to roll the dice he gets more healthy. He probably doesn't and will walk next year. If he does get healthy he will be worth MUCH more to us or in trade to another team.

I'm not sure about "too long".... Sure if we had immediately flipped him he likely would've been worth more. But he has been injured nonstop since a few weeks after the Dame trade. His value has never been very high as a Blazer.

Should have traded him immediately after getting him.

Should have traded him last season when he was healthy.

    100%

Yang might be many months or even an entire year away from playing. Blazers need to be cautious.

Clingan also has had injury and conditioning issues himself. I'm excited to roll with him as the starter but it's super important we have a number of good backups for him, especially if we're making a real effort to win.

Unlike ayton, rob will is only making 13 mil this year and every team has a player around this salary slot. So I’d assume we’re looking to take back a worse player at the same salary who is also expiring and get some 2nds attached to it, or maybe a bad first if Cronin is a good negotiator (unlikely).

Of course that assumes we want to trade him. If they have delusional hopes of “making noise” in the playoffs then maybe he’s supposed to be the backup 5 behind clingan under the assumption that yang isn’t ready to contribute yet

Billups said he has no problem playing Yang now. Says he’s ready.

Billups also started Ayton instead of Clingan when Ayton was a -6 when starting. Benched Sharpe for poor defense, but rewarded Ant with starting. The Conductor is an idiot

So is this post. For actually thinking it knows what Billups instructions were. For being so narrow minded as to not see anything outside of the tunnel vision this post and many like it, presents.
Ant, for a year was the new face of the franchise. Of course he isnt gonna get benched. They were trying to showcase him. Why this is not part of the context of your piss poor post is why it is so narrow minded

backseat drivers with 20/20 vision who cry about everything wrong, never try to see anything but what they want to see.
Negative people will only see negativity. never any potential positives…

This place houses alot of negative/angry posters….

    Except:
    1. Jrue is good. Like, really good. Old, but still good. Ayton not so much.
    2. Jrue is also a world-class person. Just one of the best human beings in the league. I think Cronin cares about team character and I think he's right to. Ayton isn't a bad person, he's just goofy. And that annoys the fuck out of his coaches.

If Billups was told to win, and he played Ayton over Clingan, despite the numbers and results clearly demonstrating that Clingan impacted winning more than Ayton did, then it at least brings Billups' coaching acumen into question, no?

Thing about Timelord is that you have to wait for him to get healthy before you can trade him and then by the time you pick up the phone, he's injured again.

But, assuming we keep him AND he's healthy - shouldn't he be our starter?

Not without a month by month context. Do we have an average minutes player per month? Im pretty sure Clingan played alot more towards the end of the season?
The numbers you speak of don't come about without time, so how is Billups supposed to know those numbers to start the season, before they exist?

Going into the season, it was widely thought Clingan would be a project and Ayton would start.

Like i said, hind site is 20/20. But it takes time to develop those numbers you are referencing. Until they are developed, I easily see playing Ayton over Clingan.

And what if Billups was told to try to win, but use the vets so we can hopefully move them for more value snd players that fits Billups system?

This is why I refuse to call the coach an idiot. Am i the only one who understands we are not in the room and there could be any number of things that happened, will happen that would be plausible over… “Billups is an idiot?”
