While I disagree because we don’t actually owe him anything. We gave him all the opportunities. We drafted him, we paid him, we listened to him and traded him when he wanted out. The Portland Trail Blazers were very good to Dame… We don’t really owe him anything. That being said, I fully agree on the second part. I understood the LMA situation and why so many people were like “forget this guy”, but I don’t understand that with Dame. Emotions running high I guess.
What do the Blazers get when he is injured for the year? He takes up a roster spot and has a cap hit. As though he can't afford a doctor or a gym. Guy has made about half a billion he can build his own gym anywhere in the world. Blazers can give him an assistant coach role or ambassador role or such if he wants that (which I doubt he would right now).
The homer in me thinks that in the 2026-2027 season we might be a bench sniper away from being contenders.
Orrrr, he doesn't want to appear to have betrayed Dame. I can't imagine the Bucks didn't consult with Giannis before this move considering they're on thin ice.
Dude demanded out to ONE team after a decade of thumping his chest about loyalty. Went on and on about how he wasn't going to be a super team chaser. In the end he might have been the worst of all of them.
Well, I guess you could sign him and see what happens with Scoot this year and how Dame recovers. If Dame still looks like Dame, you trade Scoot.
Signing Dame would not be wise. I get the sentiment but to win its a bad bad move. An ancient backcourt? Jrue is not exactly a war horse; Dame will never close to the same.
It is kind of ironic that all of the reasons he stated he would never ring chase (grass isn't greener, failing at it, looking like a gravy trainer and potential injuries) happened to him 100%.
LMA never talked about loyalty and how he was better than other NBA stars who jump to super teams. Dame did that for over a decade. Claimed he would be quiet if it ever came to parting ways with the Blazers. Then he behaved so unprofessional the NBA had to have a meeting with all parties and setup strict guidelines of what Dame and his reps could do.
