I am not going to get into the whole Dame thing again cause that will end badly for all ( including for myself maybe ending with me banned ) so i will agree to disagree on this and move on from this topic -- this is for the best cause last time i went down this rabbit hole it got ugly.
The musical chairs is crazy! trade Dame for Jrue. Trade Jrue for Brogdon. Trade Ant for Jrue. Now possibly sign Dame to be with Jrue? If that happens, craziest circle I've seen go around in quite some time!
Great idea! So we can have a Dame/Jrue duo both around 40 years old trying to guard SGA/Harper/Edwards/Luka for 48mpg in the playoffs. Or we could just keep Scoot - then let Dame/Jrue/etc fit in as backup piece if that ever were to even make sense?
Yeah Dame taught Ant how to be a ball hog black hole and suck at defense. Do we want Scoot to end up like Jrue or Ant?
we don’t need slashing dame. I’ll take shooter Dame all day in a reduced role. he’s going to retire a Blazer. Whether it’s now or later. I was more or less referring to the time frame in recovery.
Yes, Dame truly wanted to bring a championship here. Name the last Blazer star player who moved his family here? Invested in the community? 100% he wanted to win here. And what do the Blazers do? After the shut him down so they could get a better draft pick... They drafted his replacement. Scoot wasn't a player ready to contribute. We've seen Dame literally drag shit rosters to the playoffs. The one position the Blazers didn't need to improve and that's where the Blazers went. I don't blame him for asking out. And I don't blame him for wanting a specific team.
I think a lot of people (myself included) forget that he returned and then got another injury which kept him out of the bulk of the 2013-14 season. At that point, he was already going into his 19th season when he returned. And that's just regular season age, he had played in the equivalent of almost 4 years of NBA ball with the post-season games counted in. I wonder how much of Kobe's decline was due to father time more than the Achilles, tho the Achilles definitely sped up his demise. I think it's unlikely that Dame is going to come back from this and be what he used to be. He'll probably a backup going forward, or will have a much more limited role on his next team. Unlike Tatum and Tyreese, Damian has a lot of miles on his body. Still, if he's willing to sign a 2 year contract with the team, I wouldn't say no. Just doubt he will sign with anyone (tho he'd be stupid not to, I think the team he'd sign with would grant him access to their training staff, etc). Dark horse, Phoenix. They seem to have the fountain of youth there (cept for Nurk, he couldn't be salvaged).
I will admit Jrue back to the Bucks makes sense but do they have anything to give -- large contract to even make it work ? I think you would have to get a 3rd team involved and someone correct me only a handful of team's have cap space to maybe help this deal happen.
If Scoot still looks like ass this year, do you really care if we trade him? That’s why I said we would see what happens with Scoot this year. Point guards are a dime a dozen.
I have no issue with Dame wanting out. Was 100% reasonable for him to request a trade. I'd be fine if he said his preferred destination. CJ, Hart, and Norm gave us theirs and ended up where they wanted. I have an issue with the scorched earth crap he and his reps did as well as the one team bullshit. It was designed to let the Heat steal him for a shit return. Glad Joe somehow got a great deal but he, the Blazers, and us were very lucky how it worked out. Ultimately it was a big lose lose for Dame. He didn't get where he wanted and he tarnished his legacy.
Dame always praised Earl Watson and Ronnie Price as his end of the bench vets his rookie years and how important those guys were even though they barely played. Well it might be dames future to be the next Earl Watson to Scoot
