With Trump’s idiotic ICE raids pulling an estimated 70% of farm laborers out of California’s fields (which produce over a third of vegetables and more than 75% of fruits and nuts consumed in the US) what are you all planning on eating this year?

Sure, like they’re not going to crap on the produce and then try to bury it.

Okay, looks like you can put your hoarding plans on hold for now. The sable genius has an outline of a plan for a temporary pass for certain industries, including farm workers. No, he’s not going TACO (well, he really is, but he hates that acronym):

“I don’t back away,” Mr. Trump said on Fox News Sunday Morning Futures. “What I do have, I cherish our farmers. And when we go into a farm and we take away people that have been working there for 15 and 20 years, who were good, who possibly came in incorrectly. And what we’re going to do is we’re going to do something for farmers where we can let the farmer sort of be in charge. The farmer knows he’s not going to hire a murderer.”

He’s right about that. Employers need good workers, and it’s crazy policy for the U.S. government to raid businesses in order to drag away someone who arrived here illegally but has been a reliable employee for years.

“But you know, when you go into a farm and you set somebody working with them for nine years doing this kind of work, which is hard work to do and a lot of people aren’t going to do it, and you end up destroying a farmer because you took all the people away—it’s a problem,” Mr. Trump added. “You know, I’m on both sides of the thing. I’m the strongest immigration guy that there’s ever been, but I’m also the strongest farmer guy that there’s ever been, and that includes also hotels and, you know, places where people work, a certain group of people work.”

Feel better now? Mr. Ed (the stable genius) has this covered.

It’s a brilliant plan, really. I mean, human nature being what it is, what could possibly go wrong with a plan to give the farmer power over his workers by having the ability to cancel their temporary pass by firing them and having them deported?

Again, it's all about having an exploitable workforce.

I've been prepping for awhile. Emergency food. Water storage and filters. Solar power batteries. Rice and canned goods. Gas powered heaters. Generators. The goal is the prep for a month or so. The good thing is most prepper stuff is great for camping too.

a problem is it's almost impossible to prep for years at a time. You need community in order to do so.

    I've been prepping too!

And by prepping, I've been keeping track of which of my neighbors prep and making sure I have more guns than them.

    BTW, where do you live?

If you do that you'll die quicker. Need community to watch out for each other. Encourage your neighbors to prep too.

I never used to until covid and the whole toilet paper debacle.
