I'll pass on Dame round 2. Injured, not the player he was and, we don't need his style of game for where this team is going. Offensively it was always Dame and the Dolittles. Defensively he was passable at best. We need team ball and defense. Dame fits into neither of those scenarios. Dame time is done in Portland. Great memories, but not looking for a repeat.
Id be open to considering a Dame scoring role off the bench here someday as an 8th man. It can mirror Pippen final year when he returned to the Bulls and played 17mpg. First I think Dame will want an opportunity to compete for a starting spots and see what level of play he can return to. Better for all sides that is first done elsewhere.
You are right, but that's the anomaly, he was 32, 36 and 36 before and I suspect he benefited from defenders being worried about closing on him because of his elite ability to blow by them. To be fair to Dame, has had an elite c&s season every once in a while before, but most of his career he hovered in the acceptable range
I didn’t but I was wondering what you thought about that report on DA. I was hesitant on asking because I know you need to be careful. I honestly thought DA was a good pickup and maybe would work out here. Just didn’t seem to work out that way. Seems Quick decided he knew all about troubles Ayton caused.
It's hard to know, very different role when normally he was initiating offense. Does that lead to most of his catch and shoot being late in the shot clock that are poor quality possessions? Last year was higher because Giannis was initiating more offense? I'm not really worried about his catch and shoot %. I recall many years him doing well the times when LaMarcus or CJ were lead creators. I would be much more concerned he can defend a chair as well as willing to accept a lesser role or bench role.
The direct quote is: "Speaking with people that know Dame very well, the plan is for him to come back here eventually, don't get it twisted. That is his goal, that is his plan."
Damn just reached out to wish me a late Happy Birthday and…………….. asked about real estate agents in LA!!!!! #BAM * *Blurry pics to follow
I just tried to find Toumani on twitter to see his response. Can’t seem to even find his account. The blue checkmark one doesn’t seem to be working.
curious about a CBA thing... we've already discussed how Ayton signing with another team will impact his buyout/cap-hit on Portland Dame's stretch is going to be 22.5M/year for 5 years. If Dame signs a deal with some team, for example a 2 year deal at 8M/year, does the same mechanism for reducing the cap-hit of a buyout get applied to a stretched contract? If so, how would it be apportioned?
In the past it used to be applied to the year played and paid but I have no idea if it’s been changed now.
I'd have to double check, but I believe it is just the 1st year? Like, if it was a 5 offset, it wouldn't be 1 per year. But it might also be life of his original contract I can't remember
