    I remember the Kings stretching a contract so they could make an offer to Wes Matthews when he tore his Achilles. That was summer 2015 - so its been in its current form at least 10 years.

    Waivers really has nothing to do with it since he can't officially sign until the 6th. He can come to a verbal agreement at any time.

    I'm guessing he is just trying to get a few extra $ out of LAL - but we'll see.

    Pacers showing interest and remember the Pacers signed him to an offer sheet that the Suns stupidly matched but I really believe it will be between the Pacers and Lakers but we will see what is more important to him winning -- ROFL or Money cause I think the Pacers might be able to offer him more.

    hopefully he gets full MLE at least, that's 14 do we would get half of that off our cap from supposed 10 mil buyout savings - so could be near a 17 mil cap savings this year

    I do believe affect (verb, action word) is appropriate and correct. Effect is a noun.

    Affect is correct.

    His contract will only affect us this season. The effects will be at least $11 million in cap savings, we have an open roster spot, and Clingan will be in the starting lineup.

    Yeah so we'll have somewhere between 11-17 million cap savings.

    I'm not sure the difference matters though. We have room either way to use the full MLE.

    Is it possible we don't even use any of the MLE?

    I guess if there was a star player trade we could take on more salary, and stay below the cap, while using the full MLE. So that would be the scenario a higher Ayton contract helps.

    It's possible a trade for say Grant with the Lakers perhaps is waiting on whether they sign him.
