I would probably offer 3 yrs/$22-25m with year 3 being a TO. If it doesn’t work out, he is essentially an expiring contract next season. If it does work out, I would try to find a way to get a return on Holiday ASAP and see if he turns into something as a primary backup PG.

He certainly would fit the mold of similar guys on the roster. Only 6’2 barefoot, but long wingspan at 6’10, and by most accounts a decent defender. Obviously his shooting would be needed.

if he's restricted with early bird rights like that article says I'd imagine the Bucks have a right to match. That's pretty much the definition of RFA

Lakers want him too, so we probably aren't getting him.

Scoot can shoot. He'll light them up if they pack it in on him.

I think Sharpe will as well. He may have a few off games but he'll bust out of it once he gets used to it.

And Deni can shoot, and Toumani can shoot, Jerami can shoot, I don’t know what Nate is talking about.

    It's not about "can shoot."

You need guys that the league respects. Guys who space the floor. Simons was well respected as a shooter. Being able to hit threes is not the same thing as hitting on volume.

Bucks rescinded his Qualifying Offer -> so he's a now an UNrestricted FA.

They still have early bird rights- so they have a mechanism to resign him IF he agrees. I think the most Bucks can offer is ~$3.5M

If they don't respect Scoot, Sharpe, and Camara from range I think we're going to outscore them.

    I'm good with that.

    ok then...unrestricted

but I believe the Bucks can give him up to 11-12M

I've seen conflicting numbers on what the average salary was last season. Low end a bit more than 10M; high end around 12M

I'm really not sure how much the NBA actually respected Simons as a three point shooter. If he was well respected I'd think his trade value would have been a lot better than it apparently was

that might be because over the last 3 seasons when Simons was the full-time starter, his 3pt% was 37.4%. Over that time the NBA average was around 36.3% (which was hie mark last season). He was better than average, but not by much. He did have high volume, and as a starter it's certain teams were paying attention to him, so there's some mitigation in that

now, I think it's probably true that a team needs the threat of three's to space the floor; especially in clutch time. Blazers may miss Simons in that regard. They sure won't miss his defense though
