The smell of garlic repels destructive insects so planted garlic all around fruit trees, grapevines, raspberry and blackberry canes, tomato vines. Now it is getting ready to harvest. About three dozen bulbs of garlic. What will I do with all of it? If there are more tomatoes than I can handle I bring a basket to wherever I am going but showing up with a basket of garlic won't make me very popular.
My roses are having a bad season. Not a lot of blooms. Any suggestions? I just tried adding some ash, and some fertilizer last week...
Nearly everyone uses garlic except Brits. Gave two bulbs to Indian neighbor. Chinese man across street not home, neither was Mexican neighbor. Will try again. Pulled out about a dozen bulbs today and lots left. Might need to make the famous chicken with 40 cloves of garlic.
Sad news, the alien, since renamed Icarus, has touched the sky and is no more. Going to try and plant it's leaves and see if we can get new plants sprouting from them. It was a magnificent alien and we were lucky to know it
First pumpkin, cut up and roasted with spice rub. At least five more in various stages of ripening. Second pumpkin, the one I didn't plant that just showed up, has at least one more. Thinned carrots. Thinnings edible. Also more garlic. Grapes not yet ripe. There is a reason sour grapes is term of disdain. Why why why can't I add photos? Go to upload file, click on pic, shows in window and nothing! No error message, just nothing happens.
Harvested a basket of juicy Oregon figs today and some fresh tomatoes...planted sweet potatoes all around my chicken run and some in containers on my deck. Good garden year...blackberries are starting to pop out.
Peppers haven't grown fantastic this year, but we made our first batch of hot sauce. It turned out sweeter than last year also, but it still packs a punch!
