If this guy is genuinely confused as to why the right does this, the democrats have no hope. He's like, one of the smartest guys in the liberal talking space, and if he can't fundamentally grok that the right isn't playing the game the liberals are playing, there is no hope. There is no amount of telling them we fucking already knew this shit that they will believe. They are OBSESSED with thinking there are rules and decorum. It's like the right convinced the liberals there's a game and the liberals play it while the right doesn't. No WONDER the right thinks the left are morons. They think we're stupid. AND THEY ARE RIGHT. WE ARE. We have been fooled into acting nice while they do whatever the fuck they want.

This is why, the second anyone on the left started telling liberals they're being fooled, the right happily tries to genocide them. Immigrants? Queer people? People of color? ANYONE with an outside perspective on the fucking insanity being perpetrated by the right? They want to fucking kill us. AND THIS IS WHY. We are ruining the game. We're getting people to stop playing. We're getting people to wake up. And they cannot have that. Useful idiots on the left like Colbert and Jon Stewart make fun of the cognitive dissonance when there is none. The liberals are in Plato's Cave and the right is running the fire at the mouth.

Pathetic. Truly pathetic that we have come this far, and Jon Stewart of all people is still pretending to be confused by the cognitive dissonance. The right thinks we're children. They tell us we're children and they are parents. They are parents that beat their children into submission. THEY are beating us into submission RIGHT NOW. And Jon fucking Stewart has the god damned temerity to say "hey, this doesn't make any sense" like it isn't trivial to figure out if you fucking think.

We are not getting out of this alive if this is the best thinker the people see.

 

You're right, of course. But he's doing a comedy show. I think he was kind of saying that, but he had to say it in a funny way.

The reality is Democratic leadership is playing that game because they don't care if they lose. It's better for those Democrats if the Republicans get what they want too.

They're all rich assholes. They're going to have plebs to take care of them. The less they have to pay them the better.

Democrats play that game because that is the role that needs to be filled in order to keep the money and power flowing for now.

There are a few who understand how dangerous of a game that is. And how wrong it is.

I think Stewart is one of them, but he's a fucking comedian. His job is to be funny. Same with Colbert.

I'm honestly not sure if there's anything more they could do.

Do you think there is? And I'm not trying to be snarky. I'm interested in hearing any plan that could possibly get us moving the right direction.

 

Could? Yes. Jon could have devoted 60 seconds or even more at the end of that routine to say “look. The republicans aren’t playing by any rules. And they don’t care about us asking them to make it make sense. You know it, I know it. The cognitive dissonance thing? Eeehhhhhhhh it’s all a front! Iiiiihhhhhhhh it makes for funny clips on the TikToks and the instagrams. But we know that laughing about it…. It isn’t enough! So!! Yes yes clap my pretties! SOO!! I’m going to roll a list of places you can call to actually do some good work! Aannnnd I’m gonna tell ya…. Might be some actual work involved. But if they aren’t playing by the rules, we gotta do it ourselves.”

The United States has proven itself immune to rhetoric; conservative thought leaders figured this out decades ago. A lot of people just want someone to tell them what to do. And unfortunately for Democrats, only Republicans are good at that.
