yep...that's the big downer to his budget contract. It even declines every year so the math gets worse each year. Portland will be able to pay him the most money; maybe not in base salary, but in bigger step raises....and an extra year IIRC. But if he wants to leave for a team with the cap-space, there will be nothing Portland can do

I think he'll definitely be a different player on the Celtics, as he won't have the freedom of being the longest tenured player or the best player, to get out of playing defense, etc.

I hope it works out for him (which is unusual, since I normally don't give two shits about former Blazers once they're gone).

that's a pretty wild theory: Sharpe being all NBA next season. Of course, he could just skip over that hurdle and become the MVP

Usually that’s all it takes in Portland. A video of the new guy in town with family. Automatically makes people love the guys

The video isn’t what changed my mind. It was taking a look back at his career, the guy does all the things a winning team needs. He’s also been a drama free professional his entire career. For the record I wasn’t anti Jrue either, just on the fence if he made sense.

I edited my prediction from MIP to All Star. In the East, with Tatum out, it's possible

is this the "CJ would be an all-star on another team or in the East" thing again?

    Donovan Mitchell
    Darius Garland
    Jalen Brunson
    Haliburton (injured)
    Cade Cunningham
    Desmond Bane
    Trae Young
    Dyson Daniels
    Josh Giddey
    Tyler Herro
    Cam Thomas
    Tyrese Maxey
    Lamelo Ball

    Derrick White
    Jaden Ivey
    RJ Barrett
    Quentin Grimes

all-star selections are 2+2 guards and 3+3 front-court + 2 at large. So say there will be 5 guards. Simons isn't likely to beat out 12 of those guards. Mitchell, Cunningham, Brunson, Young, Maxey are probably locks anyway. Simons would have to have the best season of his career and do so as the #1 option. He'd need a 30% usage rate. Boston has too many good perimeter players for that to happen.

Simons had the keys of the offense handed to him and everyone thought he would average 25 ppg.... and then he didn't. He has been extremely mediocre since Dame left.

radical idea: Simons would be best as a 6th/7th man, 3rd/4th option. Him as a 1st/2nd option is going to fail

A little shoutout to myself. The sweat mop you see at the 1:14 mark is my design, sort of. It's my buddy's company that makes them, I designed the LED lights around the base with a switch in the handle. We sent them to GS, Boston, Cleveland and offered to Portland but they weren't interested (they were a free promotional deal...still said no).
I thought I found my money train, but we only sold a handful of them. So, back to being poor.
I also designed a fiber optic screen on top of the mops that could show either ingame highlights or just a cool light show (light the pregame) while the mops were out on the floor, but they were going to be a harder sell. I had one more idea but he was skeptical of it after some experimenting.

He'll get more press now that he's in Boston and they'll rave about his scoring and call it a resurgence year. It will be interesting to see how he and Pritchard fit. I'd take PP out of those two 10 times out of 10.

He'll also get more press on how bad he is at defense.

late the the thread, but I think we all know that Jrue won't be as active defensively as he was in some of these clips, but at least if he's beat on the defensive end it won't be because he's sitting there not knowing what he's supposed to do or in some cases, barely care.

Think of it this way, if Tatum hadn't torn his Achilles, and Boston was in an easier cap situation, would they ever consider doing this trade again?

The problem is that he doesn't do anything at an elite level.

He had two REALLY good seasons from three, but since then he has been just.... good.

Seems like it might not be with the Celtics…

“I have talked to other teams who have said they are actively trying to trade Anfernee Simons," said Brian Windhorst on Wednesday's Hoop Collective Podcast. "Whether they can or not is another [thing].

Boston doesn’t even want to hold on to Ant…

Did I miss a press conference? Some here said it would happen during Vegas. It's been a while. What's up?

This was put out. I'm not sure who originally put it out but it's not on the team's YouTube page.
