He'll be the full time backup center.

I’m heading to the airport in a couple hours. This should be a great summer league experience!

Just watched the game, couple of things that stood out to me. Love, Rupert, and Yang definitely looked better than anyone else on the court.

Love I saw a few of the shots that were a knock on him coming out of college. Out of control a couple of times and made ill advised shots but if he cleans that up he’s a good 3rd PG.

Rupert looks decent but don’t see him taking a huge step that I hoped for this year.

Yang definitely happy with what I saw. Kid better athlete than people give him credit for, yes he looks a little awkward at times but most 7’’s do. His spin moves from top of key are impressive. Court vision and understanding of what other players should be doing is something you don’t normally see from young players especially someone who doesn’t speak much English. He was aggressive telling guys where to go or to cut and then fed them. Guys are going to have to learn to cut hard and expect the ball because he is a really good passer. I can see why the Blazers drafted him at 16 IMO he’s definitely got top 15 potential. Nieve to think that other teams didn’t see the same potential he would have been drafted within a few spots of when we picked him.

one concern Billups talked up a lot of players but when it came to Sharpe he didn’t say much makes me wonder if he’s putting in the work. My favorite player so hoping that I’m reading to much into it.

lastly our viewership is going to go up with Yang on team. We should sneak in a few national games this year

Definitely. He's having fun out there, even when he's mixing it up.

As a teammate, you love hooping with guys like that. They lighten the mood, make it more fun, make it easier to just go out and play.

I saw or heard a report of Minny at 17, with Brooklyn and New Orleans looking at him. Nobody is going on record saying Portland punked them.

Minnesota draft team facial reaction says it all as soon as Yang was selected

That was priceless, especially considering they drafted Roy to extract value out of Portland.

Centers usually are not able to do too much in SL. I think this speaks to Yang’s skill set. He is a different kind of big who has found a way in SL to make a difference. Will be interesting to see how he does the rest of SL and if any of this translates at all to regular season. But I like the vision and thoughts of how they could potentially run the offense when he is on the court. Cutting and passing is something that always warms my heart. Hope it is not fools gold. Going to be rooting for the kid for sure.

    Clingan?

I know it's silly and ridiculously premature, but I can't help seeing Nurkic-Jokic parallels with Clingan-Yang.

As nice as Yang was last night, Jokic's Summer League was on another level

I'm not suggesting that Yang is even 1/4 the player Jokic is. I'm just talking about how the Nuggs were initially pretty happy with Nurk, then they drafted Jokic, then Nurk Got hurt, Jokic supplanted him, and Nurk was run out on a rail. Could see something similar happen to Clingan.

Nurk and Jokic were drafted in the same year but I agree with your similarities.
