Yeah, I completely disagree. Imagine Dame returns to 90% Dame. Then you have:

    Dame/Jrue/Deni/Giannis/Clingan

That would be absolutely crazy! So, if there is ANY way Cronin could make this happen he should.

I thought we can only offer more if he is a restricted FA. Unrestricted means we have no advantage against others teams. This seems to be the opposite of what you're saying here.

    Am I wrong?

Y'all are in here TRIPPIN. How y'all sound saying you wouldn't go after Giannis if possible is just crazy to me.

Father time and an Achilles rehab is going to be more like 75% Dame. Which is still great. I love the signing. Just temper expectations.

Bucks will pay Dame 56 this year and 56 next
Bucks Dame cap hit is 23 for next 5 years
Blazers will pay Dame 14 this year and 14 next year and 14 two years from now if he exercise his player option

Which means that Dame's cap hit for the Bucks in these years is 18m

We can offer an extra year on the contract than anyone else.

I think hoping for 90% at 37 coming off an Achilles might be wishful thinking. I don’t even know how many 37 year old starting guards without the injury are currently in the league? Steph and Lowry? Am I missing anyone?

    Yes - you are wrong.

Restricted Free Agency only allows the incumbent team the right to match a contract offer that another team makes - so the player is unable to leave for another team.

The RFA or UFA status has no impact as to what a team can offer a player.

The incumbent team can offer 5-years instead of 4-years that other teams can.
Also the incumbent team can offer 8% raises each year versus only 5% from other teams.

    Deni will be UFA

We cannot match other team's offer

    but

We can offer a 5th year while other teams only 4

So if that is the case, we still have an advantage

Deni must really hate us to accept a shorter contract with lower increases

    Did I get that right?

The key word is imagine... See... You're lacking imagination. So Imagine my dream scenario for a moment K? This is contingent on Dame returning to form ala Kevin Durant.

well, technically he does not need to hate Portland, just need to think that playing somewhere else is worth the security and income risk, which can happen if he can overcome it with larger endorsement and the location is convenient (For example, the NY market offers much better marketing opportunities and is much easier for travel to his home country).

LMAO. This is so fn dumb. Cronin is a boss. He gets credit for what he's done, including having us in a position to bring Dame back.

Gotcha but I don’t wanna risk all our young assets and picks for Giannis if Dame is only “imaginary” 90%. We would need to see him play for 1/2 a season before pulling that trade or else we are just the Bucks from a few years back but older.

So dunc on podcast said the credit on Bucks cap is about 6 million this season - but it's not until the END of the season, so it helps with luxury tax or 1st apron but not cap space.

So it's $6 million (14-2mil)*50% but strerched over 5 years so a little over $1 million each of the next 5 years.

Next year Dame salary cap credit will be that similar 6 million but spread over 4 years thus about $1.5 mil. So each of those years have about 2.7 million credit or such on Bucks cap from both years credits.

Dame 3rd year salary wouldn't matter as his Bucks contract was only 2 seasons.

Giannis and Dame didn't win a chip with no bench in Milwaukee...what would gutting the bench in Portland change by reuniting Giannis and Dame? We don't want to become the Bucks. Right now we have great depth

Yeah - I don't think you can play a big like Clingan or Timelord or such with Giannis. He needs all 3pt shooters. So it would be a lot of moves to get the right supporting cast around that roster.

I'd love to add Giannis but when your talking about gutting the Blazers, where we are not an immediate contender, and we have lost most our youth/picks it doesn't sound as enticing.

I mean if we can snag him for a Durant like cost where we only give up #10 and Green&Brooks then sure. I think the Bucks are going to demand a haul and then I lean to no.
