As the years, months, weeks, and days turn to hours, minutes and seconds, this incredibly beautiful rose city will be in full bloom with such a pleasant odor of anticipation that has not whisped up and down the streets in decades. In one fast summer the blazers have given the city and world something to look forward to. Intertwined within the larger draft story, where Portland defied the norm, set off on their own path and walked out of the draft with more picks than they entered, along with a promising 7’2” big with seemingly elite level passing and court vision, is the feel good story of the cities arguably most beloved Blazer of all time. A truly epic daytime soap opera couldn't have been written better (even with Olshey’s help)! Blazers have had the iconic statement “Rip City” since the 77’ Championship. The Blazers have seen superstars like Clyde the Glyde, Brandon Roy, Rasheed Wallace, Scottie Pippen, etc, come and go since, but no one ever created another statement saying. No one ever left such an imprint on the city. Then came “Dame Time”. Dame captivated audiences and gained the respect of peers, coaches and managements around the league with his clutch shooting, stoic personality and elite level competitive nature. Over 11 seasons Dame took over most of Portlands all time offensive stat records, has accumulated many accolades like multiple time all star, Olympic Gold Medalist and more. Unfortunately, Dame wasn't able to be surrounded by the right type of players needed to truly reach peek performance. Eventually the relationship became stale, which led to Dame requesting a trade, which Portland facilitated. Now, two years later, Portland has signed Dame and brought back “Dame time” for what seems to be a final run and retirement party for when he is ready to hang up the Addidas. The news of Dames return rang throughout the city on phones snd message boards all day, as people read the news and forwarded it on. The city was buzzing like it hadn't in years. And as the clock ticks down to when Dame steps back on the court wearing that beloved pinwheel, the city will be in full explosion of emotions mimicking the best of fourth of July shows. When that clock ticks down to Dame time once again, im not sure ill be able to hold back the tears. It sure is an exciting time to be a Blazer fan!!!
I was pissed when he left. Mad at him. Before the trade went down though, he wanted to stay, he did NOT want to go to Milwaukee His apology for breaking our hearts and his reeled me back in. His heart is here, he loves us as much as we love him. I believe he regrets the stance he was talked into taking with his agent. Whether he wins a ship here or not, this is one of the best outcomes i can remember in all of my years of being a sports fan. I'm giddy over it. Wish i knew how to make videos, I would make one of Dame resigning with some highlights to this one. This song came to mind when i got the news
So news circulating there will be a press con tomorrow evening with Joe Chauncey and Dame. No mention of Jrue
Very nice... the Dame trade was only a little less than two years ago, it will be two years in October.
I think you're right. Scoot has the best mentors in Dame & Jrue. I want Scoot to breakout. Him and Sharpe
I expect Dame to have a much bigger impact on Shaedon. One reason is because I think Shaedon has a lot further to go to be anywhere close to Dame's mentality and the other reason is because Dame said before he got traded tha he wanted to be a mentor too Shaedon but that was it he didn't want to mentor anybody else and that Shaedon was just different and talked about how excited he was to continue to play with Shae. I think Scoot will benefit from Jrue and Dame as well but he doesn't need as much of a kick in the pants to access everything he has as Shaedon maybe seems to.
