I never listen to them on the radio anyway. Either I use YouTube, Spotify or Audacy. I mostly listen to clipped segments. So moving to FM makes zero difference for me. I don’t know why they’re selling it as some HUMONGOUS NEWS!!!!!1!1!11111!!!!!
Mostly, it's the quality of the audio for games. Listening to sports on FM is night and day better than AM (as long as they actually broadcast it in stereo). One issue is, AM travels a *lot* better than FM does, however with things being streamed it doesn't matter. But also matters if the stream feed is stereo or low grade. I hate listening to the Blazer games on the radio because they have some kind of noise in it (it's a ratings detector thing) and it bugs the shit out of me.
They’ve had this up on FM for a few days now. But it randomly goes out for a few seconds at a time and I’ve gone back to streaming as my rig doesn’t have AM. Hope it was just a beta thing and works good tomorrow.
Just because the move to FM isn’t a big deal to you doesn’t mean it’s meaningless. Lots of newer cars don’t have AM. So it is pretty big news in the radio world. And FM signal & sound quality is better. Now that The Fan has 3 stations, it gives them more options when there is a Duck or Seahawks game. For example during Ducks basketball season, that stupid game can still be on 1080 & Isaac & Suke can have their show on the FM station.
Well, you can catch Beaver games on 1190 in between "Live at NAZI HQ" and "The ICE Daily Roundup Program"
At first I was a little miffed when the Blazers left KEX, but now it'd be like when they were on KXL during the Michael Savage and Lars Larson "why do you hate our troops/America" shit show.
