Three things about Blake Wesley that make sense with signing him (besides being cheap and available).

    1. He's at his best playing at a very high pace. Thinking what we saw in that first summer league game. Presuming the Blazers want to do a lot of that this year. Wesley can do that.
    2. Wesley can handle the ball. Although I wasn't entirely on board with thinking it was necessary -- kind of thought a tall shooter would have filled a more glaring omission from this roster -- people did wonder about a third PG. OK. Here he is.
    3. Wesley can get the ball to teammates in good positions to score. He will pass the ball. He will move the ball.

Again, I'm indifferent to Wesley's acquisition, but there are elements to his game that fit with what we're doing.

We have enough guys to slide over to SG if needed.

Wesley doesn't have much upside, so this is planned as only a 1 year commitment.

I look at this as the Blazers want to have a 3rd PG for injury insurance and don't believe Love to be that guy.

HCP can make anyone look good in a "highlight video," but to your point, there are certain things you can still take away from film.
One of those is quickness, which as you alluded to...he has. Good lateral movement as well.

He will probably spend game time sitting at the end of the bench so I can't see getting feathers ruffled.

Can't shoot, and not a gifted passer, but he's a dog on defense, so I understand the appeal. I'm going to give him a chance to win me over.

However, part of me thinks they should have explored Jeremy Lin, who's 36 and playing in the Taiwan pro league. He would have been a good 3rd pg this year. He speaks Chinese.

So two 35+ year old PG's isn't old enough, need one even older lol?

With Deni/Sharpe/Grant/etc we don't need a 3rd string PG to organize an offense. We need one who defends well and can bring the ball up the court for others.

If we need Chinese speaker just hire an instant coach for that, don't need a roster spot or cap on it.

I was a fan of Lin but that ship sailed awhile ago.

Lillard isn't playing next year, so basically we don't have 2 35+ PGs.

We have defenders all over the floor. The only nondefender (not counting Lillard) is Sharpe.

We don't need shit, but it would be nice to have a Chinese speaker if that's convenient.

    Snark.

Homie, you want me to send you a link of a CJ Elleby mixtape I made for him for some big family event. I got that dude lookin’ like Harden!! Don’t take ANYTHING away from a highlight tape. Watch what we call “GAME CAM or COACHES CAM” That would be the tru way to see a player’s game. Just Ike college recruiters will only watch that game look.

it’s not false. You are literally just looking at what BRoy said in that the end of the year rosters are filled.
Last year I guess we did.
    The years before that…no
