I don't know about Hogan as a truth teller, he was one of the biggest bullshitters to ever live but it is sort of dishonest of me to piss on his grave with a meme. I missed his peak, even missed his second wind in WCW, but caught his 2002 comeback and that WrestleMania match with The Rock where they stare each other down for 5 minutes and the crowd is doing backflips going nuts. RIP
"Say your prayers and take your vitamins brother." In my house my brothers and I were more Piper guys. We watched the wrastling and the Saturday morning cartoon. We even watched WCW in our tween and teen years as a sort of hilarious kind of ironic soap opera. Besides the Nintendo 64 game we never really went back to the WWE after it was the WWF. If you are a child of the 80s and 90s Hogan was a pop cultural touchstone before you knew that these larger than life characters were incredibly flawed. By the mid 90s we'd all read a handful of books and watched a couple of documentaries that taught us about the dark side of sports entertainment and Hogan was a very real part of that dark side. So today is a mixed bag of emotions but I'm trying to concentrate on the Hulk Hogan I thought I knew when I was a child. He was a real life superhero to me back then... still a little boring because he was always the good guy and Piper was actually funny but if nothing else today I mourn a part of my childhood. Oh and @Ripcity4life77 get a grip man. You talk crazy shit about Cronin who by all accounts is an actual good guy. Then you have the audacity to chastise posters in this forum for expressing their thoughts about a person in Terry Bollea who had plenty of things to actually dislike just because the guy just passed away?!? I don't know, you seem pretty unstable to be worrying about the mote in the eyes of others.
And a huge wtf and haha to the guy that posts like a childish moron complaining about...all the things saying have compassion and respect.
When I was a little kid I watched Portland Wrestling on KPTV with my grandpa. It was pretty great. I think it was the only time he ever stayed up past 8:30 p.m. LOL
No I meant his kids dont talk to him. His daughter wouldn't talk to either of her parents. Not sure about the son.
I didn't understand what you were getting at. Thanks for the clarification. Yeah, like I said before, if people want to romanticize who he was to them at some point in there life, that's fine with me but everyone should be OK with other people wanting to point out that the guy was an unsavory individual and that's just in the context of the things we knew about him.
Not sure anyone else did as much to put the WWF on the map than HH. You could probably go into the middle of nowhere overseas and see a red 23 or a yellow HH top 99% of the time before you saw any other celeb/sportsman anything. He had some issues, like we all do, but some of the comments in this thread are a lil disappointing. Hopefully everyone can live up to the standards they hold others to. RIP and thoughts to the people closest to him.
Having a whole shtick be around "hulking up" (no selling) its no surprise. Good riddance. He was one of the worst wrestlers ive ever seen. Seriously, go watch him, he was AWFUL at wrestling.
Once youre racist you lose my compassion. As should everyone. We are better than racists and I lose compassion for them. If they can hate an entire race I can hate them individually. Fuck. Them.
