Not seeing his name anywhere on here at all. I PROMISE that on everything that is holy, he WILL get important minutes. He is the epitome of a “Chauncey Type Player” Whether you all think he will or not…… he is the perfect example of what Coach wants out of his players!
Tisse should be the backup sf and backup backup sg. (Not in order of preference of who starts) Scoot/Jrue Shaedon/Tou/Tisse Tou/Tisse/Shaedon Deni/Grant/Murray DC/Williams/Yang
Tisse will get some minutes because there will be injuries. Right now, we have Scoot, Jrue, and Shae who need around 30 minutes in the back court, and we have Deni, Tou, and Grant who also need around 30 minutes per game in the front court. So I see spot duty for Tisse when we are at full strength, and more once injuries (or rest) start to occur.
It's not that anyone on this board is actually "forgetting Matisse." Okay, maybe some people do see him as an afterthought given recent injuries and other variables. He's a known quantity as a backup. He's a given and will earn his minutes ... assuming health. How many minutes he gets at SG/SF will be determined by players who don't claim minutes that they should or could. Grant doesn't play well, again, and Cronin trades him to the Lakers for expiring contracts of backups and a couple 2nd rounders? Unlikely. Scoot only gets 16-18 pure backup minutes behind Jrue who then only plays PG? And Sharpe is just okay at the 2, so more minutes there? If the above happens, forget the play-in. Break glass, play Matisse to the maximum. Or only some of the above happens and Matisse gets closer to starter minutes. [Prertty unlikely on 26-28 minutes, IMHO] He is Chauncy's just-in-case guy to plug him in and make a higher ceiling (or just better) player sit until they pull their heads out. The minutes Matisse plays corresponds to the chance he is traded by February.
When you are trying to build a contender one of the things you need is depth at every position. Solid player that can contribute immediately when asked to step up. Not sure Matisse is a player you let go.
