I watched a Canadian movie about hunter gatherers domesticating the first wild dogs or wolves during the age of the Wooly Mammoth...it was breathtaking cinematography and done in some ancient native language. the movie is called Alpha.. the dog/wolf should have won an academy award!
    It's on Netflix

Went to Sinners over the weekend and even with the movie being hyped up coming out of the first week of release, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked the movie. I say that because the pairing of Ryan Coogler and MBJ automatically raises my expectations from the start after movies like Fruitvale Station and Creed, but then to add in the hype after the first weekend, add in what little I knew about the movie was that it dealt with the delta blues music and vampires, two totally different subjects and I had suspicions that it wasn't going to work but he blends them in well. I do think it's Michael B. Jordan's best work and that's saying something after The Wire, Friday Night Lights, Creed and all the other stuff he's been in but can see him really becoming a movie star and someone that can carry a film and make people want to see it because he's in it. That's something that is becoming increasingly rare these days.

I watched the Conclave movie a few days ago. It was OK. Kinda slow. I thought the ending was weird, I felt like it didnt really have an ending, ended in the middle of the story, there was no real concrete conclusion.

As a huge F1 fan, I’m excited for the new F1 movie coming this week. It will be the first movie I’ve seen in a theater in a long time.

Watched the F1 movie. Big disappointment. It was really cheesy. Several of the scenarios are laughable, would not & could not ever happen in a real F1 race.
But some of the race footage was cool to see & hear in a theater.

I watched this older movie about F1 and really liked it.

Watched Superman last night. Very disappointing.

Save your money and 2-hrs of your life & just skip it

Hmm interesting. The reviews have come back pretty high on that movie.

    Why was it disappointing?

    The visual effects were decent.

The story line was poor. It felt very disjointed. They were trying to do too much

I saw the Superdog movie and loved it! Having Superman as his sidekick was cute but they gave him too much screen time.

Superman was really good, looking forward to more films in this reboot of the DC universe.

The casting was 10/10! Marvelous Mrs Masial, Castle, No Ho Hank.

@julius what did you think of it?

Unfortunately I watched Happy Gilmore II and it may be the worst sports comedy I’ve ever suffered through. Not even a cheap laugh unless you want to see a guy fall down swinging a club. Terrible sequel

Scheffler was the only highlight for me. I hate to say that I consider Sandler kind of washed up, but I do. I had to watch it once, but I'd rather rewatch the original 100x over before I watch II again. Silver lining? It's not the WORST sequel I've ever seen.

Been awhile since I posted in this thread (summertime means I'm not at my computer all day with time to kill so easy to disappear from this place, not that anyone notices! hahaha)

F1- Best movie of the summer for me, saw it in IMAX and loved it. I get that it's not very realistic when it comes to the actual sport but Joseph Kosinski (Director) just knows how to shoot action movies that keep the heart rate elevated and it's Brad Pitt doing Brad Pitt in his charming attitude, all wrapped up in a beat by beat sports movie. I get the purist not loving this movie (I absolutely hate Moneyball and think it's one of the dumbest movies ever made because I can't get over the real life story) but it was a fun action flick. 8.9/10

Mission Impossible Final Reckoning- I realized I hadn't seen an MI movie since 3, so I went back and rewatched them all over the spring/summer and am ready for the franchise to be done. A couple of great set pieces in this one with the submarine and the final scene of the planes, but in a franchise where the story is always in the backseat, this one felt even worse than the others. 6.5/10

Superman- I've never been a big comic book movie fan and even less so of Superman (always seemed like a boring character) but this one was better than most. Maybe it's because the movie starts with him getting his ass kicked, maybe it's because I paid a little extra for the 'rumble' seats to add an extra experience but I enjoyed this one more than I thought I would. Still not a great movie and not sure I'll ever watch it again but glad I saw it in the theater. 7.1/10

Final Destination Bloodlines- I had checked out on this series quite a while ago but we were looking for a fun summer movie and an excuse for the wife to get a couple of margaritas. Better than I expected, though still cheesy and some plot holes but a fun way to spend 100 minutes. 7.2/10

The Naked Gun- Again a fun excuse to get out of the house, it had some good punchlines and brought me back to childhood watching the originals. Liam Neeson was a worthy replacement as Lt. Frank Drebon and something about serious actors delivering absurd lines works. 7.6/10
