Well hopefully it's just that, an expansion and not the moving of another team, especially the Blazers.

I think there is plenty of revenue for two teams to exist again in the NW. Also makes for a great rivalry. Vegas will be it's own revenue source.

I can certainly see Lebron retiring and owning a new team in Vegas.

Was it a mistake to move the Sonics to OKC. They have built a successful championship team there.

I think that too was mostly on the city of Seattle and the State of Washington for not being ready or willing to go in on a new arena for the team. Though who knows if the new owner really wanted to stay there, or already had plans in place and wanted to move the team regardless.

If anyone can learn from the mistakes there it's not the NBA. It's the City of Portland and the State of Oregon. Don't repeat those mistakes. Though again, does this new owner or group of owners really want to keep the team here? They say so. Hopefully, they mean it. Hopefully, they don't already have plans to move the Blazers and are just saying they will keep the team here until the sale goes through.

It would cost a lot to move this team though. More than what the new owner (owners) probably would want to pay, especially after just shelling out 4.5 billion for the team.

We will see teams in Seattle and in Vegas. Again, hopefully straight up expansions, not the product of teams being relocated to new cities/states. Two teams, likely two of the Timberwolves, Grizzlies, and Pelicans will be moved to the eastern conference.

Turns out worrying about moving was worrying about the wrong thing. Should have realized conversion to another league was the real danger.

Who cares about that. They have no Fortune 500 companies. Or does that only apply to Portland

We need to make "Damn Donuts Ho" happen and put it next to an EggSlut and a Bacon Bitch! All your main food groups in one unholy trinity.

Come to think of it, a coffee shop next to them would be nice.

It could be called Coffee _________ fill in the blank .

sounds like it will still take some time to complete the deal likely not till end of this year. Boston was sold a few months ago and I think I saw it hasn’t been completed yet

Little do you know, the guy from Portland hates the Blazers and Blazer fans. He wants to move the team so that we all suffer!

Doesnt matter if they have F500 companies or not. They got local investors wanting to purchase because of the business climate. If the city turns him off or doesn't or politicians get in the way the dynamic could change real quick.

Just saw article on MSN that said the buying group is looking to add more local investors including Columbia Sportswear and potentially Rip city forever members (group of local leaders wanting to keep Blazers in Portland). Great sign that he wants to keep them here. You don’t ask local businesses to be part of buying group unless they are staying

A new (renewed) local business interest in the team/franchise probably will do wonders. I think there wasn't the warmest of relationships between local businesses and the Blazers (right or wrong). I hope there are far more opportunities for local businesses to be a part of things than there seems (perceived) to be.

A lot of that was the kind of smugness that Trader Bob and Neil Olshey had, and the distancing themselves from the community that happened. I think there's a lot of backlash from that still.

And until the team was sold/on solid footing, I wonder if local businesses/leaders were leery about hitching themselves to the Blazers wagon.

    $4.25B is actually wild
    $4,250,000,000 is ¥626,348,000,000

Also less than half of the Lakers?

    Lakers $10B(2025)
    Celtics $6.1B(2025)
    Blazers $4.2B(2025)
    Suns $4.0B(2023)
    Clippers $2.0B(2014)

This has not been established at all. In fact stating it the way you did is misstating the the "tanking" position. I don't think anybody seriously wanted us to tank for one season in the hopes of landing a star who would save us.

That wouldn't work. 1 star isn't enough. You need more top end talent than that.

You think there was only one potential star in this draft?

I think you'll find that that is false.

I'd be surprised if that conversation didn't already happen before he signed on the dotted line.

EDIT: If he's still putting the group together and won't take ownership until next year, then I'm changing my guess to he probably hasn't.
