That's way beyond a steal. Used to have all of those. You have to hold that thing like a bazooka. My favorite Nes accessory though was the power glove.

I still have my Nes with Marios 1-3, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Batman, Maniac Mansion, Star Tropics, Pitfall, Punch out, and a few others.

I have an Atari, Pacman arcade game, NES, Super Nintendo, PlayStation 1, Wii, Xbox Series S (I'll be upgrading for Christmas), and a Switch.

I have had other consoles (N64, Sega, Sega Dreamcast, Xbox, Xbox One, PlayStation 2&3, but don't currently have those.

The one classic piece of gaming I have never had or tried but want to is the Virtual Boy.

Other than gaming, I read a lot. I have most of all the classics from Charles Dickens to Herman Melville. I have all the novels you may have read in high school from Salinger to Vonnegut. I of course have Shakespeare, short story collections, most of Stephen King's books, and much more. I have the whole Michael Crichton collection...my mom and I used to enjoy buying ones we hadn't read and trading them back and forth. I have them all now of course since she has passed.

I have an extensive collection on cryptozoology, hauntings, Aliens, and the unknown. Those are fun reads. I know about most of the cases out there.

I am also an avid reader, of Uncle Johns which are books of many many facts and occurrences. Fun reads.

My favorite books are Catcher in the Rye, the collected works of Brothers Grim, A Thousand and one Nights, and an early edition of Stephen Kings Graveyard Shift.

I'm also a movie buff. I have an extensive DVD collection. I have all the movies worth having. Mostly. Still a few out there probably. But, I have seen pretty much every film after my birth and most that came before it.

I also have a small VHS collection. It was much larger, but we needed space, so I sold most of them. I of course kept the gems.

    I also write.

Mostly poetry, but also short stories. I actually had a collection of horror stories published, but it has typos in it because I was young and in a hurry. It didn't sell well. Its hard to find now. Might be out of print.

I had that on Atari. That's like the original game.

My parents used to have a full set of encyclopedias that I read from all the time. Not sure what happened to them.

I got to try that out at Game Trader at Mall 205 sometime before the holidays in 1995. I know I tried Mario Clash and one other game. Gave me a horrible headache, never played one again.

Super grateful for this nerdgasm thread. I thought I was King of the Nerds for casting and painting lead Civil War soldiers, but after listening to all you geeky video gamers I realized that I am the normal one and I don't belong in this dungeon.......

Unless you go for regular Civil War battle reenactments and act out the battles every year...now That's some geeky stuff!

There is a difference in retro gaming and current gaming.

Current gaming is one of the ways us dudes with kids get to still connect with their boys from childhood. Jump on a game, play a few matches of Fortnite, Apex, Rocket League etc. With the fellas and chat about how ya'll are doing then go back to adulthood. Its like a snapshot back to hanging out with your buds in high school.

Retro gaming takes you back to a time before you had responsibilities. When you were a kid and playing games. The euphoric feel you had when you got the game you wanted for your birthday and spent the next week playing it over and over again. It sucks being an adult because you just don't get as excited about things anymore after life hit you in the face with a shovel many times.

Honestly, I feel like video games helped me with problem solving, perseverance etc. Lots of life skills to learn if you don't let it turn you into a degenerate.

I was camping one time at Fort Stevens State Park when, at the same time, there was a Civil War reenactment at the Fort Stevens Historical Site. It was cool to see.

Most of my retro gaming is done on Analogue consoles now. I have an Analogue NES, SNES, Genesis, Turbo Duo, Pocket and the N64 should be on the way in the next month or so.

PS2, Dreamcast, 3DO are hooked up on an older TV.

A few months ago I was telling my son how reliable my PlayStations have been over the years and have never had a problem with them. He played on the PS3 for a few hours before it got the yellow light of death. Damn shame.

I used to like to read books but I just don't anymore. I read and analyze stuff in my job all the time. Takes the fun portion out of reading for me. I never really got into fiction stuff other than some classics and Goosebumps. I have always preferred reading non fiction and biographies. I like collecting sports memorabilia and going through my trading cards from time to time.

I am obsessed with true crime podcasts and TV shows. That's pretty nerdy.
