    Yep.

The leeway our law enforcement officers get in a country that supposedly as advanced as ours is disappointingly regressive. I think we can see from our current political situation, though, that we weren't nearly where we pretended to be as a society. I just watched the Mehdi Hasan debate on Jubilee and the stuff that was said made my head spin.

But, yeah, we don't vet our cops enough, we don't train them enough, we over-arm them, and then we given them qualified immunity. People were surprised yesterday when one of the Briona Taylor cops got three years in prison. They fired 10 shots into an apartment and hit no one, so the recommendation was that they serve no jail time despite being guilty. The federal judge disagreed, saying it was a miracle they didn't hit anyone. Of course, Breonna Taylor's still dead, and the person that accidentally shot her isn't going to serve a day for that.

I was talking to a law enforcement officer Monday. They're young and very well-intentioned. I see them like I used to see a lot of young social worker friends. They're getting burnt out of their job at 25. This is someone that wants to do it well, but they see things that are making them disillusioned. They aren't getting the help they need. They have a society that's contributing to everyone being angry at each other, and they're seeing colleagues that take short cuts or don't care about whether they hurt people or not and it's making it harder for them to do their jobs.

We need to vet and train these people better and, if they're going to be handed lethal force, there needs to be a higher standard of safety and accountability. Even if it's only 5-10%, we have too many people in this line of work that are there to take out their anger on strangers.

Police Captain Caught by FBI Staging Innocent CEO’s Arrest for Social Media
    Posted on July 22, 2025
Captain David Boruchowitz was the face of law enforcement in Nye County, Nevada, showing up on the news, social media, and even police reality TV shows. But behind the badge, a darker story was brewing. In 2019 he arrested Angela Evans, the CEO Valley Electric (VEA) – a local power company, accusing her of embezzling services by moving a power pole on her own property. As it turns out, that allegation was a total lie. But the damage was done. She lost her job and ended up filing a civil lawsuit. So why did he do it? Believe it or not, Boruchowitz was later exposed by the FBI to be part of a conspiracy to oust this woman as CEO and replace her with his co-conspirator, Ken Johnson. A central part of this scheme were elaborate Facebook and YouTube videos produced by the Nye County Sheriff’s Office for the purpose of effecting the conspiracy. Despite getting caught, indicted and convicted, Boruchowitz ended up not spending a single day in prison.

Cops Pull Over a Paraplegic Driving a Blind Man, Then Order Them Both Out of the Car
    Posted on July 25, 2025
Officers with the DeKalb, Texas Police Department pulled over a paraplegic man and his fully blind best friend over a broken tag light on their country Cadillac. One of the officers claimed to smell marijuana and ordered both men out of the car (the search of which did not subsequently produce marijuana) – at night, on the side of a highway. One of the men couldn’t see a thing, and the other had no use of legs and had no wheelchair. It went about how you might expect…

Driver Honks at Cop Car Idling at Green Light, Gets Arrested 5 Minutes Later
    Posted on July 29, 2025
Matthew Edwards, a hard working welder, had just worked a 14 hour shift and was waiting to turn into his neighborhood in Troy, New York. A marked police car was waiting at a red light in front of him at the intersection where he was waiting to make a left turn onto the street where he lives. But when the light turned green, the police car didn’t move. After waiting a few moments, Matthew briefly honked his horn to alert the distracted police officer that the light had turned green. Within 5 minutes, Matthew would be violently arrested by that officer, Taylor Ganache with the Troy Police Department.

Deputy Stefan Ortiz with the Volusia County (Florida) Sheriff's Office stopped an older man for an alleged faulty tag light. Within minutes he literally drug the man out of his car and arrested him, telling another officer that the man was attempting to play a "constitutional rights game" with him. This video raises common issues that occur across the country, where police officers disregard basic constitutional rights, and the entire criminal justice system seems to allow it....

This is a must watch. Especially if you have kids who drive.

Cops Beat DEAF Guy For “NOT LISTENING”
    Posted on August 25, 2025
Police officers in Jacksonville, Florida arrived at the home of a 44-year-old deaf man after a reported domestic disturbance. Despite knowing the man was deaf, officers immediately began shouting orders, which they knew could not be heard – or easily followed. Within seconds, they slammed the man onto the ground and continued shouting un-heard orders, as the man cried out that he had done nothing wrong. Afterwards, the officers mocked the deaf man, telling him that he should have “just listened.”

All of them are bastards, even the legends.

    https://apnews.com/article/buford-pusser-walking-tall-tennessee-cold-case-6a3162fb834a19947b33fbc9002a9a45

A late Tennessee sheriff who inspired a Hollywood movie about a law enforcement officer who took on organized crime killed his wife in 1967 and led people to believe she was murdered by his enemies, authorities said Friday.

Authorities acknowledged that the finding will likely shock many who grew up as Buford Pusser fans and watched 1973’s “Walking Tall,” which immortalized him as a tough but fair sheriff with zero tolerance for crime. The movie was remade in 2004, and many officers joined law enforcement because of his story, according to Mark Davidson, the district attorney for Tennessee’s 25th judicial district.

There is enough evidence that if Pusser, the McNairy County sheriff who died in a car crash seven years after his wife’s death, were alive today, prosecutors would present an indictment to a grand jury for the killing of Pauline Mullins Pusser, Davidson said. Investigators also uncovered signs that she suffered from domestic violence.
