What exactly do we need in a new arena that couldn't be added to the Moda Center

I have an idea...maybe they could gut the MC like they did Key Arena. That way, they could upgrade it, keep the building the same (or maybe secretly expand it) and the Winter Hawks could temporarily play at the Moda instead of there.
I mean, Key Arena is 400x400, and the MC is 350x350 feet.

They could make the bowl a lot bigger, deeper and expand the concourse too.

Badda Bing badda boom, problem solved!

    (i'm only partly serious)

Almost certainly! Unless maybe Portland makes that a condition?

Mods, please remove "The Moda" from this thread title, and replace it with the actual name of the arena...

You really think they would Land Back to Grand Ronde for a casino at the MC?? I don't think this will ever happen.

So to answer the new question:
Switch out the hardwood court for PDX carpet, it would give them a unique home court advantage.

They used to call it The Glass Palace. But they hid the glass.

I have A LOT of great memories in the MC. Concerts (including my first concert when I was 15 and I hitch hiked to Portland to see Santana and Eric Clapton). The Blazers. The Far West Classic. Hockey.

    TEAR IT DOWN!!

Sophomore year in HS with my parents, Eddie Murphy Raw.
Standing room only Blazers games with parents and neighbors!

Eddie Murphy Raw was considered to be very adult material back then.

Been a while since I have been in Moda. Climate Pledge is actually quite nice. They have twin video screens instead of one that function quite well. The club seats are pretty plush and have their own private eating/drink area with exclusive options. The area between seating and exterior is pretty nice and unique with flora and fauna in the walls. The bottom floor has its own area with a large bar and seating area to watch the event near the bar instead of at your seat. It is not exclusive and is open to all seating.

This would be a pretty cool idea. If they kept the same look exactly, but just expanded it, I wonder if they get around the National Historic Register restrictions?
Would be pretty cool to have light streaming in during day games, and views of the skyline, or the night lights through the windows.

Climate Pledge Arena sounds like it offers a modern and comfortable experience with unique design touches. The mix of exclusive areas and open spaces gives fans plenty of options to enjoy events beyond just their seats.

It still is. I was talking to a few kids 18-19ish years old. I asked them if they knew Eddie Murphey and they said yes of course. They knew Dr dolittle and of course his role in Shrek but had no idea about Raw or Delirious. So me being the bad parental influence that i am decided that they should be educated about where Eddie Murphey came from.
This was quite a event for them. They literally told me that was BAD! They cannot believe people thought that was funny. Just the gay jokes alone set them off let alone the woman berating and flat out cussing. Making fun of women from Africa (Gooney GooHoo) and Norton and Ralphie Boy.
No Question the world has changed.

Maybe we can get this some traction!

They could totally add onto it and keep it the same design.

Um, how is that different than the 200 level currently at the RG?

It's much newer and nicer and has a more modern look and feel. More wide open space.

Oh, I get that. I just meant the 200 level already has that option (and it'd be easy to upgrade it).

the 300 level is probably the worst of the 3 areas, it always felt cramped and like you were at the county fair (in the sense of industrial and not really welcoming).
