how about I ask you a question, if Tom decides to get rid of pride night and make it a "everyone" night like he did with his NHL team, you don't think there will be people protesting outside of Moda Center on game days? or talk of not supporting the Blazers and on social media because the Blazers got rid of pride night? As other poster mentioned, lets not forget the fact that there was some uproar about Billups and his rape case when he was hired, and for a little bit he was getting asked about it by the media, people in Portland making all sorts of comments on social media about it for a long while. It was tasteless as fuck. It's just one example of the shit show IMO I think Portland has become to what is use to be. Most people here have adpoted a negative narrow minded view imo. And that's a shame currently, as Portland was super vibrant and clean not to long ago. It can reach there one day again hopefully imo. But to each their own opinion wise and for the record, I'm not against anyone or what their preference is, my point is people in Portland will find any reason to "protest', whether it be politics, race, or gender related. It's just a bad look if you ask me.
Also for the thousandth time. Pdx has a homeless issue, but so does many other jurisdictions throughout the US. I witnessed it on my drive through America 4ish years ago. Some cities just deal with it differently by containing all homeless to one area of town.

I don't consider my equal civil rights a frivolous excuse to protest. Eliminating Pride is saying the official position of Blazers is that we don't deserve equality. At a time when civil rights are under massive assault. It might be trivial to some of you straight boys but to me it's my life.

I loved the people and the culture. Portland was incredible. I would skate through the city all day and spend my nights at the waterfront. I never wanted to leave. That changed about ten years ago. The homeless population started becoming more erratic and dangerous. The violence got worse. There were shootings and stabbings, things I had never seen before. Two years ago, I finally said enough and decided to leave. It’s sad to say, but I am so much happier now. I've lived here 48 years and it's absolutely impossible to have objective solutions based conversation with anyone here because of the ideologically captured culture. It's completely irrational.
