Unfortunately for you, masturbation is not a collegiate sport.

    Really? DAMN IT!

All this time I spent practicing, wasted. I was really, really good at it. Everyone said so.

"Wanna go to a party?" "Want to take me to the dance?"
"Nah, I gotta be in the gym, masturbating"

    And all for what?

That was kind of my point. Certainly was that way with my nephew last year. The HS coach begged him to play but he wanted to get seen. So he set up a deal to make sure some coaches would see him play. Then agreed to play for the school.

I went to school with Sarah Warnock. She was a couple grades ahead of me. Very moving story. And she could hang out there. And doing it with MS was just incredible.

But no, I don't know them. Not many of the people who were part of those great teams have much to do with the team anymore.

Kristen Forristall has been around some. My daughters have coached Lindsey Yamasaki's kids at a few Brad Smith camps. And Brad is still at those camps as well. But he hasn't been around the team at all for years. About a year after our ex coach took over he stopped coming around.

I still see him around at 3x3 tournaments and stuff. But I try not to bother him unless he looks like he wants to talk to me. We know each other by name and he knows my daughters. They always run up and give him hugs and talk to him.

He's an amazing guy. He knew my name and tapped my shoulder at a 3x3 tournament before I realized he knew I existed. He's just that way.

The Warnock family are probably my closest family friends. I grew up two houses down from her father. My father had MS also and there was a bond between them. I was in her parents wedding.
Sarah and Claire went to Montana and I think Brad is up there now as well? That is a guess?

I think Brad is still in OC unless he's moved in the last few months.

I remember watching Sarah was very inspiring.

Big time. Tons of push back for my girls playing club. Even had a trainer/coach tell them they shouldn't work with anybody outside the program.

And text my wife and I later that night to admonish us for having our kids go to tryouts.

IMO, its unfair for the players to be put in the middle of that situation because it easily becomes a talking point for the kids and they take sides and it does create drama big time.

Ridiculous. Funny thing is…..of the 30 or so schools to recruit and offer my daughter….not a SINGLE one reached out to her HS Coach for a reference or anything whatsoever. And they won the damn 6A State Championship. Not like it was some random HS. NCAA doesn’t care about HS ball except football like I said. And that’s only because there is no type of club situation. Glad your kid is thriving at that level bro. Quite an accomplishment to even get there.

You are correct. Once that recruiting age hits, you actually see a different demeanor from teammates. Maybe not passing to certain kids and bullshit like that. And don’t let me get started on the parents!!!!

I see this with my Gd & 2 Gs's traveling teams, softball, baseball & soccer, U13. My honest observation, the drama, is worse with the girls U13. Having raised three boys and three girls, at this age the boys are not as bothered with the politics, but they are more prone to throwing their gloves down, kicking the dirt or pissed off during game situations. I would teach them the hardest thing about being good sport is not letting the loss and error get top you, keep your head o the game. Shake it off. I think because girls are chanting or singing so much while at bat, it helps clear the air if they are pissed. That doesnt apply to my wife though even now as a granny.

So if I'm reading this thread correctly, we should all kidnap a kid or two and force them to play ball in a park.

I'll set up and run the GoFundMe's for bail.

The thing is…..these parents are paying SO much money to have them be on these elite teams…… I know for a fact the overall majority if not ALL of them are doing this with the expectations that being on the team alone will get you a scholarship to college. Obviously NOT true. But I of you look at NCAA D1 athletics….almost 95% of the scholarship athletes are indeed coming from these programs…..there’s just only so many open spots.
So that mentality from the parents usually drips down to the student athletes. When news started to spread about so in so is getting calls from OSU and so in so just went on an official visit to Gonzaga, but their kids having even got an email from anywhere…..there’s flood gates just open with the drama. Senior year on my daughter’s club team was like a reality show…..parents fighting with each other and the coaches in the hotel lobbies….players freezing out other players simply because they were heading off to play in college and they weren’t. UGLY! So glad we are done with all of it FAMS!

If the parents were cool to me and my daughter, I helped them with their recruiting. Cut highlight packs for them and told them what questions to ask on their ZOOMs. We got a total of 23 girls into college. 15 on some sort of athletic scholarship and 10 D1s! Great experience, but no thanks. I know @Phatguysrule has been thru it. It’s brutal.
