yeah. Assuming a 0-4 start that would be a 7-5 record and good enough for a bowl game. I still think Wake Forest could be a challenge; and going on the road against Tulsa won't be a gimme
Pretty tough watching Johnathan Smith and Michigan State beat Boston College when the Beavers are struggling quite so much.
Damn, watched that game late last night……that was tough. Not sure who the Beavs QB is, but he was pretty much terrible. Liked some of the defensive backs flying around out there. They were hustling though.
I honestly think the only draw to get recruits there was that every season they were going to be on tv playing UCLA/Stanford/USC teams like that is gone. That’s what I was talking about when I didn’t quite understand the draw and why people were excited about Texas State or whatever they are called joining their “league”!
They probably will end up being a farm team for better colleges. Every good player they get will get nabbed up the next season. Sad situation at this point.
Poor Beavs. If they had a deep snapper they could have made their extra points and not muffed their punts, and they would not have been in a position to force a pass for a pick six at the end, which was just insult to injury. They should have won that game easily. I feel really bad for the dude who was brought in as the snapper. He was getting booed, and most likely none of those people knew he'd never been a deep snapper before Saturday.
You make it sound like the Beavs chose TXST over USC. Of course the Beavs are way worse off than they were a decade ago, or 3 years ago. That is unavoidable. TXST was far better than the other possibilities like NM ST or UTEP or whatever. There's some cool things going on with the university and program. Pac12 got biggest deals of group of 5 conferences. People who are excited probably are glad it's not much much worse than what seemed possible. Nobody is saying the Beavs are better off than 3+ years ago
They are giving that kid $1.5 million too ... yet didn't think enough to have a back up long snapper ... not sure I've ever seen a TD like the muffed snap on the punt where the kid just kicked it and scooped and scored. Worst part is everyone dogging on the long snapper (which he was bad) but that one wasn't even his fault, it was all on the punter.
Not sure I'd be penning in Houston as a win, they aren't bad and ESPN has them as the heavy favorites! In fact I think OSU is only favored by their (albeit dicey) prediction meter for the Sam Houston, Wake, Layfette, Tulsa and home Wazzu games. But could easily be looking down the barrel at an 0-6 start, at which point does Brey have any control of the team?
