    Everyone calls him JKS.

He played against OSU. They suck. But then again Cal’s schedule looks weak as fuck so I guess good for him lol.

Saga will have a huge year and he will command a bunch next year if he decides to transfer.
    That is my prediction.
You know how predictions go. Usually wrong but sometimes right.

what mistake did the Ducks make?

He had committed to Oregon. He then reconsidered because he knew he was not going to beat out Moore or Novosad for playing time. So he then asked Oregon to allow him to rescind his commitment. The Ducks allowed it, as they should have. There was no mistake on Oregon's part unless you believe they should have kicked Moore and Novosad off the team

What a brutal game on all levels for the Beavs. Terrible coaching & preparedness, crappy play by the players in all aspects of the game, the dead vibes/crowd at Reser, the stadium/video board mistakes... everything absolutely sucked.
Unbelievable that Bray didnt call a TO to avoid the penalty at the start of the game when Cal was going to punt on their first drive on 4th down. Cal then goes down and scores.

I don't know what else Oregon could have done. He wanted a starting gig; knew he wasn't going to get it behind Moore and Novosad. Then Cal's staring QB entered the Portal and JKS decided to leave Oregon and transfer to Cal, where he initially committed months before. Were the Ducks supposed to lock him in the practice facility?

The only thing your list is missing is that reportedly Oregon had no idea he was going to sign with them. Everything I heard was that the announcement was a shock to the U of O staff. Probably because they were up front with him about the QB room.

See, the Spirit Mountain suggestion is looking better and better.

If you're going to the Civil War you should book at Seven Feathers. Better to drive an hour south than 4 hours north.

Sagapolutele wanted Oregon. He transferred to Cal for playing time. If he develops, he'll be back. Thanks Cal!

Ducks should never have let him walk. Let’s hope they get a chance to get him back.

What do you mean? He asked out. He wanted to start. We have a better QB right now.

    Here was JKS this weekend

Dante is just a better player. Period. JKS has a lot of promise but we weren't about to start a true freshman QB when we had Dante.

Not sure Moore is better. Which means not sure that he should have been chosen to start.
I feel the Ducks made a mistake letting that guy go.

Seriously? You really think stats like that make any statement in football? Have you ever even watched a game? Football is a team sport.

they didn't have the power to stop him....do you realize that? The CFB calendar prevents that action. Sure, the Ducks could have refused to let him out of his LOI (letter of intent), But that would have only been semi-effective till the spring transfer portal. Then he could have left anyway. And, Oregon would have looked like assholes to every current and future recruiting target. Playing some kind of pointless hardball with an 18 yer old would have been a PR disaster for the UofO. 18 years olds can be flighty; it's expected. And if JKS had refused to show up on campus, what could the Ducks have done...sent the state police into California to arrest him?

besides that, cancelling the LOI at the request of JKS was a PR win. Future recruiting targets pay attention to things like that. But more than that, cancelling the LOI also cancels whatever NIL contract the Ducks had with JKS and made that NIL available in the transfer portal. Win-win

you need to give up on the narrative that somehow Oregon fucked up by 'allowing' JKS to leave. He never arrived in the first place, and he was going to end up at Cal no matter what Oregon did.

I was just gonna say. Does this kid at Cal have the same options at the skilled positions or the offense line talent?
Are their QB versions of WestBrook who put up HOF stats, but get murdered by the numbers geeks?

    Sure they did.
I don't need to give up anything.
It's my opinion that they could have kept him by letting him have the starting position and making sure this was going to be where he wanted to be. They CHOSE to go with Moore. They did not CHOOSE to keep JKS and let him CHOOSE to go somewhere else.
If you don't agree with that then fine. Try not to tell people what they believe is the case in a very objective situation.
Let me spell this out so you get it one last time.

I feel in the end JKS is a better QB than Moore. I believe JKS would have had a very good year on the Ducks this year and an even better one next year after a year of taking this team into the playoffs. I feel there is a chance he will be so good that not only the Ducks but many other teams will be fighting to get that guy next year. I believe there is a chance that the Ducks may miss out on an opportunity to get him back. I hope that is not the case.
I believe having him on the roster this year may not bring a championship this year but having him in a continuing situation makes their chances better next year.
There is also a chance he does so well this year that he decides to stay where he is. That would be unlikely but it happens. Also, what makes you think teams like Alabama and Ohio State or Penn State are not looking at him as well?

Exactly. How can you not know these things if you honestly watch with an unbiased eye. There is no way he puts up numbers playing for Cal this year that he would put up with the Ducks.

The kid is good, but he is a true freshman. Dante is in his 3rd year, so yeah, I think it is safe to say DM is better suited to lead the Ducks this year. This is not the NBA, where choosing players for the future is a desirable strategy. Teams have no control over where a player chooses to go each season. For all we know, the Ducks could pick up a QB that is better than both if Dante chooses to enter he draft.

But this year is all that matters. It would be nice to have him sitting on the bench behind Dante in case of an injury...but he chose not to go that route. Nothing the Ducks could do about that.
