Guessing they are trying to preserve his eligibility in case he wants to transfer or Moore goes to the NFL after this season.

Every time. Never bet on sports. A simple “let’s not get him injured” decision will take your money in a heartbeat.

I'd love to see the Ducks win a national championship

but I'm skeptical this year's team is good enough. Last year the Ducks were good in run offense and flawed in run defense (and in the Rose Bowl OSU gained 181 yards on the ground and the Ducks gained -23; and that was after Penn St. ran for 297 yards against the Duck D))

this year the Ducks are still flawed in run defense, but worse in run offense

you don't win national championships unless you're elite in one and very very good in the other.....and I have never bought into Tosh Lupoi being a top D. coordinator

Never bet on sports. At least with cards you know the odds.

    all that

NW scored their 1st TD....then it was a break for 7 commercials....then back to the game for a fair catch on a kick-off....then it was a break for 6 commercials. In other words, there was a fair catch sandwiched between 13 commercials

and yeah... pity points. NW had 313 yards of total offense; but they gained 166 of those yards on their two 4th Q scoring drives with their starters playing against Oregon's 2nd and 3rd unit defenders

Man I thought maybe the Beavers would look a little better. This just looks pitiful.

I just tuned into the Beaver game and the announcer said the Beavers were trying to "create inertia" with their offense. Looking at the score, I think they've already done that

    related to Pac-12/Pac-X

    North Texas clobbered WSU 59-10.....yikes!!

if the new Pac-12 was in existence this season the two former Pac-12 teams might be bottom-dwellers

And they wondered honestly why the other conferences didn’t want them?

Come on now thats not fair. If the Pac 12 was still what it was, players wouldn't have transferred out like they have and we probably still have better coaching.

    certainly true

but the demise of the Pac-12 was not one single event, but a series of mistakes. For sure, the two main architects of the failure were Larry Scott and USC. Scott's arrogance and hubris made for several terrible choices. And USC's totally slimy actions over a two year period were egregious. They knew they were going to apply to the Big-10 when they led the charge to prevent the best teams from the Big-12 from merging with the Pac; and that would have at least been a path for survival. But again, it was USC and their president that killed that....and they were already talking to the Big-10 at the time. And when USC and UCLA left the Pac-12, the die was cast. (and USC lobbied the Big-10 constantly to NOT admit the UofO; fortunately, they didn't have a vote yet)

and there were 4 schools that were always in lockstep with Larry Scott: Utah, ASU, OSU, and WSU. When ESPN & Fox offered the Pac-10 a media deal averaging about 30M/year, it was a few conference presidents, most notably those from ASU and Utah, that somehow idiotically believed some study that said the schools should be paid 50M/year. I was told by someone who should know that the Pac-10 voted 6-4 in favor of accepting the media offer. It needed 8 votes to pass and the 4 no votes were ASU-Utah-OSU-WSU. And after, when the Pac-10 demanded 50M/year per school, ESPN & FOX said fuck-off, walked away, and gave the deal to the Big-12

I am kind of surprised by how quickly the Beavers collapsed, but Smith leaving and the transfer portal wiped them out. Basically 3 years ago they were 10-3, beat Oregon, and won a bowl game. Their record since 10-3-->8-5-->5-7-->0-3....and the competition has become a lot weaker. I'm a little surprised to see that Smith actually had a losing record, 34-35, at OSU

but yeah, it's the money. Oregon is on half shares in the Big-10. IIRC, they have escalator clauses and their share will increase over the 7 year media deal. With the money from the CFP contracts, they could be making 55-60M/year by 2030-31. And the next media deal might be well over 100M/year. Ohio State/Michigan/Penn St could be making well over 110-120M in 2030-31. There's no way that G6 programs can compete with that

I'm not surprised that is Smiths record. Gary Andersen left our program in complete shambles. They never should have fired Mike Riley for Andersen. It took Smith a few years to get his recruits.

Smiths last year the team gave up towards the end of the year knowing he was leaving. Multiple players parents said as much on social media. That the kids already knew.
