What’s the difference between Westbrook and the other guys on that list? Oh yeah…

Because he's one of the least clutch and most boneheaded superstars in crunch time. Guy would freeze out Durant and Harden to lay a brick.

First, learn the important distinction between NECESSARY and SUFFICIENT. At best the previous poster is saying that a ring is necessary for greatness - that is, you can't be great without it. Your examples of Rider and Ammo don't disprove that, they just prove that a ring is not sufficient for greatness. Your examples of Stockton and Malone do show that a ring is not necessary - so don't muddy the water with Rider and Ammo. (Of course, there will be those who still bite the bullet and say "that's right - Stockton and Malone are NOT truly great" and you can't win with them.

Second, triple doubles are not SUFFICIENT for greatness, otherwise Fat Lever would be truly great. Now, don't get me wrong, I love a good triple double - they certainly show that you're putting in effort. But they're also likely a sign that you're high usage and you're always around the ball - perhaps ball-hunting instead of guarding your man, setting picks, doing the unglamorous dirty work. Robin Lopez always looked like a weak rebounder (and not coincidentally, players playing alongside him, who otherwise weren't great - like LaMarcus - looked much better) because he was an awesome box-er out-er, leaving a space where a child could've got the rebound. So if one player is getting ALL the stats, that's not necessarily a sign that they outworked everyone else, it requires the team being structured to favor them. And teams that have been built around Westbrook just haven't done well, have they? But conversely, he's not much use unless you do build around him, and that's why he's not great. There's an argument to be made that OKC would've been better in the finals without Westbrook (just like we would've been better against the Lakers without Stoudamire) and certainly Harden would've been less likely to leave.

I did, hilarious. LA never liked it when somebody would call him LaMarcus.

Given that the N in NBA stands for "national", what is this league going to be called?

I don’t believe they would be a part OF the NBA would they? Wasn’t there an NFL Europe league for awhile? I think the NBA would just sponsor them right? Might be exhibition games or something.

Notice that the league won't start until 2028. I imagine Silver is hoping Trump will be gone, because currently there isn't much appetite in Europe for anything US-related. And you can bet the existing Euroleague will be stressing their home-grown-ness.

Maybe use the WNBA ball? We have a team now in Portland so they could borrow one.

I wish we had first ballot HOF level boneheaded superstars like that. Shit I just wish we made the playoffs and lost in the first round every year again.

If he only costs what a superstar that only plays half of the regular season and is a coinflip to play in the playoffs then every no or never team should be interested.

I kind of think that if he is just released from this deal that Golden State might make the most sense for the upcoming season. I have seen the reports that he wants to stay in SoCal so maybe it will be the Lakers. The Lakers would be fools not to pick him up if he's willing to take what they have available as his salary.
