Yes, the tools/mechanics would have to change greatly. Novosad for example was way ahead of Smith coming to Oregon out of HS, and unless Moore goes pro this year (he might), he's unlikely to take a meaningful snap as well. Look at the caliber of player to get meaningful snaps at Oregon over Lannings tenure. Being good isn't even close to enough to get the starting job.
No "inside info". I'm just going off a combination of the level of QB Lanning has played in 4 seasons and the probability of someone with Smith's mechanics and arm-talent can get there. I don't anticipate Lanning will be playing a good-ish QB (unless injures get involved) any time soon. Novosad is really good and hasn't even got a meaningful snap. Obviously a could be wrong, but I'd take that bet without hesitation.
Both the hawks and Ducks were up 17-3 late in the third/early fourth and let the other team tie it up. Some seriously sphincter level football this weekend!
Thanks for the explanation. While I don't have much of an opinion on Akili, Dante has been someone I've believed in since I first saw a HS recruiting tape. Dude just has it, he's the complete package. The first game vs Montana State confirmed that for me & I've been calling him a top selection in the next draft, maybe #1 overall. I'd guess that Novasad is the Duck starter next season STOMP
there are several components of arm talent for a QB, but Akili Smith Jr has plenty of strength, routinely throwing 60-70 yard passes https://www.youtube.com/shorts/zVU78lsJqxY of course, there have been a lot of rocket arm QB's with limp FBIQ who can't put needed touch on pass and can't go thru progressions well my thinking is that if Moore tells Lanning & staff he's going to the NFL after this season; and Novosad is on top of the depth chart at QB, the Ducks will be shopping the portal pretty vigorously
Totally agree.. Moore has some special arm-talent. I was excited to watch him at Oregon the next two seasons, but I'm starting to think it might just be one!

Bye week next week with the big game being Miami at Florida State. FS just lost an OT game at Virginia but they will give Miami a game. I don’t think Minnesota will give Ohio State much trouble but you never know.
