Apparently Jerami is a guard now???

"Deni Avdija and Toumani Camara are penciled into Billups’ starting lineup at forward. Donovan Clingan will join them at center. That leaves Jrue Holiday, Jerami Grant, Matisse Thybulle and Sharpe to jockey for playing time in the rotation at guard. The Blazers had been contemplating a few starting backcourt combinations, including pairing Holiday and Henderson together, featuring Holiday alongside Grant or Sharpe, or mixing Henderson with Grant or Sharpe."
    --------

Who writes this crap? Or is this possible? Can Grant be a guard? What am I missing?

Jrue is going to start for sure, probably was very likely anyways but with the Scoot injury its guaranteed.

I bet Grant starts. He rebounds like a small guard so its all fine there.

Blazers would rather make the mistake of starting Grant when he shouldn't but then have Sharpe or someone else take his place during the year. If they started someone else who later didn't outplay Grant they can't really move the Grant as the longest tenured Blazer back into the starting role easily as he will be insulted. Not saying I agree with it that's just how the league and veterans work.

The only way I see Grant (or Tou for that matter) working at SG is because Deni gives the Blazers that 2nd ball handler. Essentially, they would be playing a positionless line-up (other than Clingan and Jrue)

I kind of want to see how that lineup would work, but not in the starting lineup. I prefer Sharpe starting.

I am thinking it will make sense to start the season with Sharpe off the bench as back up PG minute. If you put Sharpe in the starting line up, I am not sure who we have that can remotely run the second unit if you put all of our capable ball handler in the starting unit. We know Holiday is probbaly going to be limited to 30 mins a game max and even at that, he might start breaking down a month into the season.

What you're missing is that a post is not a thread.....there's a starting 5 thread already.

Looks like the future HOFer Yang will definitely be in with the REMIX this year.

Unless Jrue goes down too, in which case he's our starting point guard.

Wait? I thought he was Jokic jr? the great Chinese Hope! I was certain he was going for the Point Center position now that Scoot is out.

I think it needs to be Deni as the backup PG. I would slide Deni over to the point at the 7-minute mark in the first quarter
and sit Jrue while replacing him with either Tou or Grant (whoever doesn't start)

Then you bring Jrue back to start the 2nd quarter.

CB says they are going to definitely push the pace and get the ball up the court! Good to hear.
