I just did a quick search and it said he is eligible for a 5 year contract and that Portland has offered 4 for 90 and will probably offer 4 for 100 next.

I won't be mad if we get stuck holding the bag for a max deal this summer because Shaedon plays up to that level.

    Yeah - you're wrong here.

A 5-year deal would be 5 additional years (so 6 total). Sharpe would be under contract until June '31

Just look at Jabari Smith's deal as a template

    Wes Matthews?

Blazers have to overpay. That's just the way it is.

ok....I wasn't sure. I may have been thinking of the past CBA. I really miss Larry Coon's CBA FAQ

Joe said Shaedon and Tounani are fighting over how to split 230 Mil over 10 years

115 / 5 each with year 5 team option was the offer for both but Toumani thinks he should get more due to being on the NBA All Defense and Shae said they settle it in a dunk contest with Hansen being the judge but Toumani declined

Why did the Blazers have to overpay Nurk/Grant/Simons? Just let them walk.

Same with Evan Turner, Allen Crabbe, Meyers Leonard.

I never understand we we overpay backups who are crappy contracts then get stuck with a bad contract. If we really want a bad contract just go get one from another team for a pick like the Nets getting slick for adding Michael Porter Jr.

Yes that Wes one was a good deal, so were Aminu and Ed Davis.

Andre Miller was a good deal.

Seems like we do find some deals when bringing in free agents. We just can't help ourselves with overpaying our own crappy players that are already on the team.

Nobody wanted Aminu or Ed Davis. We got Wes on a poison pill contract that Utah couldn't match.

I don't remember the Andre Miller deal...

I have no idea why we overpay guys rather than letting the market set their value. Maybe that's part of the deal when we convince them to sign with us in the first place?

Many teams wanted Aminu and Ed Davis, tons of contenders did. Maybe on cheaper deals though. We may have paid them more though but both still ended up being great value. Wes was still only an MLE deal that the Jazz misjudged as overpaid. Miller was signed with cap space above the MLE.

Those were all inexpensive contracts and fine to take a flyer on. Grant is a crippling 160million for a bench player on a 35 wins team. That's the reason it's considered one of the worst contracts in the NBA.

Simons we drafted and Nurk we acquired long prior to his final deal. So there couldn't have been agreements to get them to come here.

Grant is the only one that argument could possibly apply to. But if true it still was a stupid move.

Nobody good wanted them at that price though.

Wes was definitely a great move. Utah was in a tight spot and we took advantage of it.

I'd be willing to bet we offered Miller more than anybody else. Which I'm fine with. I liked having him here.

But I have no doubt we overpaid the market on most of those guys.

Miller might have not had options, I can't remember exactly. I believe Philly was going to rebuild so didn't really need him.

Aminu and Davis weren't really overpays. The difference we did to get them is give them those offers immediately the first hour of free agency when big markets were chasing the big name star players. One of the very few shrewd free agency moves of the Olshey/Cronin duo.

One guy I don't think we overpaid for was Derek Anderson. He was going to sign with us for the MLE no matter what happened. We just ended up getting him in a sign and trade instead and gave him a little more than that.

I'll go along with that. Plus I think Olshey had relationships with them already from prior teams.

I remember being stoked about signing him. Too bad it didnt work out because of injuries. He had a lot of potential.
