<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>CHICAGO -- Lou Piniella apparently will take his fiery brand of managing to "the Windy City."Chicago radio station ESPN 1000 reported Monday that the Chicago Cubs have agreed to a three-year deal with Piniella.Financial terms have not been finalized, but the radio station is reporting that Piniella will receive approximately $3 million annually. The Cubs officially will announce the hiring of Piniella on Tuesday at Wrigley Field.Piniella, 63, faces a difficult task in turning around a Cubs franchise which posted a 66-96 record in 2006 and has reached the postseason just twice in the last 17 years. The subject of numerous recent rumors, Piniella owns a career record of 1,519-1,420 in 19 seasons with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, the Seattle Mariners, the Cincinnati Reds and the New York York Yankees. He guided the Reds to a World Series championship in 1990 and twice was named American League Manager of the Year while with the Mariners. On Friday, Piniella took himself out of the running for the San Francisco Giants' opening. He has also spoken to the Washington Nationals and Texas Rangers, although he said the Washington job is not an ideal fit.Piniella, 63, has been working in television since parting ways with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays after the 2005 season following three difficult years as manager. The Cubs chose not to bring back manager Dusty Baker when his contract expired.</div>http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2628162I didn't see this coming. Good signing though, he'll add some intensity to the team.

Lou is a great coach when he has lots of talent. And a pretty bad one when his talent level sucks. So it's all on the GM to give him talent.

Can steal bases, can hit home runs, can field at a Gold Glove caliber at SS, puts butts in the seats, and is humble enough no to complain where he hits in the batting order.Yeah, he's terrible. I love that he's soo terrible that this was his "OMG A-Rod had a horrible year" stat line:121 RBI's35 HR's.290 BA15 SB113 Runs.392 OBPThat's his horrible, terrible, disgustingly bad year.Yeah, his value is nill. :LMAO:

    1) Is Being Chased Out of New York, will be boo'ed relentlessly should he return, therefore negatively affecting the team because they will have to deal with the A-Rod circus for another season. 0% Chance of him returning, no matter what Cashman and Torre say. 2) A-Rod holds No-Trade Clause, can demand where he goes.3) Coming off an down year, even for A-Rod. Because of 1, 2, and 3, The Yankees have Absolutely No Leverage. Therefore they will not get fair market value if the other GM's in Baseball have a brain. Yankees fans are rather Ignorant for thinking they can Boo somebody out of New York, and then get Top Doller in return for them in a Trade. It doesnt work that way. By Your logic the Mets would have gotten Top Doller for Kazuo Matsui in a trade. :LMAO:

Yes, but not to the point where we would give him away for a worse player at the same position and a pitcher who wouldn't even make the rotation. Be realistic. The Yankees will get either one big name and a few prospects for him (if we trade him) or one big name and one noticeable player.2. Yes. You know another amazing talent everyone in NY wanted gone right? Roger Maris. And all he did was stick around and break the Home Run record.3. Because the Texas Rangers certainly didn't do that when they traded A-Rod. The Seattle Mariners certainly didn't do that when they traded Ken Griffey Jr. Nope, top notch players never get traded by teams that can afford to keep them.
Kaz is in no way shape or form anywhere near the talent of A-Rod. For you to continue to compare them is nothing but an escapist's ploy to get out of an idiotic comment. But just to humor you:A-Rod's horrible year:121 RBI's35 HR's.290 BA15 SB113 Runs.392 OBPKaz's stats up to his trade (38 games):7 RBI's1 HR's.200 BA2 SB10 Runs.235 OBPYeah, a guy who hits the mendoza line is exactly the same as someone with more talent than anyone else in the league. You are either kidding yourself, or dilusional, if you dont think a Healthy Mark Prior would make the Yankees rotation. Lets not forget that this guy was a #2 overall draft pick (Only behind some Catcher named Mauer) just a few years ago and he has posted a 42-29 record and a 3.51 ERA/1.23 WHIP on many bad Chicago Cubs teams. Not to mention that Aramis Ramirez Hit .291 with 38 Home Runs and 119 RBI's last season. Both the players you would be getting in that Rumored Offer are not bad players at all, Despite what you think about them.2. Your point? Lets bring up some Pointless Comparision from 45 years ago to attempt to prove your clearly flawed point, despite the fact that the game has clearly changed since then. [IMG] 3. Alex Rodriguez with Texas Demanded a Trade, and Ken Griffey Jr was in a Contract Year with Seattle. Alex Rodriguez with the Yankees is neither of those. Once again your comparison holds no ground because its a completely different situation you are referring to. [IMG] 4. Nothing Escapeist about it. I never once said Kazuo Matsui was on the same talent level as Alex Rodriguez. You're the one putting words in my mouth by trying to accuse me of saying that, because of your lack of reading comprehension. All I said was that it there were several similarities in their Situations while they were in New York and Matsui was traded for well below Fair value in the end just to get rid of him. Draw Your own Conclusion on how the A-Rod situation will end, but I highly doubt the Yankees get some team to pay Top Doller for Alex Rodriguez.

But no one puts any value in Prior right now. He's not injury prone, he's always injured.2. My point was that you were wrong, and judging by your response, you are just pissy that I am right rather than looking to come to an accord. You can stay on a team and succeed despite everyone hating you at the time. A-Rod wants to stay.3. Your "counterpoint" didn't counter anything I said. So... [IMG] 4. HA! Fine. You win. The Kaz Matsui situation, a guy who was hitting the Mendoza line and was benched shares tons of similarities with a yearly All-Star who is a former MVP, one of the only 40-40 men in history, and having a bad year that entails hitting .290 with a 120 RBI's and 35 HR's. Completely the same. There are similarities between Hitler and Jesus, but that doesn't make them anything alike. It's just a poor analogy.

A-Rod is a fucking pussy. I don't want him. And he'll get roasted in Chicago just as bad as New York. Jay Mariotti, Rick Morrisey, Mike Downey, all rip people. They would pick on A-Rod.

He totally rips people. He got Ozzie so pissed that Ozzie called him a fucking fag. He drove Ditka out of town. He has absoultly blasted Jerry Riensdorf. He will tear A-Rod to shreads, and combined w/ Downey and Morrisey at the Tribune, he's going to get roasted.

A-Rod won't be traded. Especially not to the "Lovable" losers. He loves NY and has a no-trade clause.

Which do you want?
