I think he waited too long... he should have been did this at like week 5. Glad to See Jason play though. Hope he does good next week.
Gibbs had his mind in the past, looking at last year's success and our brief playoff run... he figured if we were gonna do it again, it was gonna be with Brunell. Sitting at 3-6 and having done so awful on offense yesterday with the HUGE amount of time we had the ball pretty much shows we need a different guy behind center. Brunell was NOT getting things done. It's a shame it took Gibbs so long to realize Brunell wasn't gonna be able to do the same kind of things he did last year. It's a shame it took Gibbs so long to realize we lost to Seattle in the playoffs pretty much because of Brunell.
I know Brunell isn't good.. but I don't think it's fair to blame all of your offensive problems on him.How has the line done?Injuries at RB have plagued you, and you wasted a draft pick on Duckett.And your OVERPAID Wide Receivers suck.. just like everyone but the Redskin fans said.
Our O line hasn't done badly at all, it's the man behind it that has made poor decisions while they are blocking for him. INJURY (not plural) at RB has "plagued" us? Look at Betts and Cartwright's stats... I wouldn't call that a plague...Half of an air attack has to do with where the ball is coming from (QB), and the other half has to do with where it's gonna go after that (WR).I'm not gonna turn my back on our WRs until I see what they can do with Campbell. I think he's going to make better decisions and better plays than Brunell did, and utilize their talent better.
Cartwright has done nothing... Betts has been pretty good though.But Brunell isn't as bad as you make him sound.. he is 10th in the NFL in QB rating, 13th in completion percentage, 15th in yards, 15th in yards per attempt, 7th in INTs. All of which are in the top half of the league. You guys make him seem like he's 32nd in everything.
On paper he looks good, but watch him in a game. HE HAS THOSE STATS BECAUSE ALL HE DOES IS SHORT SCREENS THAT GET US NOOO WHERE. And any time he "goes deep" its usually impossible to catch in double coverage or out of bounds. He plays scared.
My friend from Philly came over to watch the game at my house. Before the game, I told him how bad Brunell is. Then he's like, "What! No way! He's good man... look at his stats". Stats mean nothing unless your team wins. Stats mean nothing when you can't convert on 3rd downs. Stats mean nothing if you're forced to punt inside the opponent's territory. Stats mean nothing if you domainte teh time of possession and come away with a punt or a field goal. Anyway, about 10 minutes into the Skins-Eagles game, my friend goes, "Ah... I see what you mean now". Brunell's completion percentage is only good because he throws screens and throws to the check-off man for 4 yards on 3rd and 6. His good passer rating comes from throwing the ball away at least once every set of downs. He feels pressure when there really isn'y any, and he actually has two or three more seconds in the pocket. And he's selfish. He's scared someone will injure him. A lot of times he could've scrambled for the first, but no, he threw the ball away because he doesn't want to get hit. Then there are times that he actually finds an open receiver... but the problem is, the receiver is 20 yards down the field and he can't throw it that far because it will be 10 yards off.

And let me tell you, there is throwing the ball hard and there is throwing the ball hard with touch. Travis, the QB my Freshman year had a rocket arm but he also had some touch to it despite the fact that it was hard. It was gunned in there but catchable. Joey, the QB my Sophomore Junior years, had a rocket arm, but yet the ball stung your hands every time you had to make the catch. With him the ball seemed heavy. My Senior year we had Spencer. Spencer's arm was ok strong, but his talent was like Drew Brees in being able to see the field and deliver a catchable ball on time and spread it around to whomever was open.We won the Championship with Spencer.I don't know why I went on this ramble, but I think my point was.... fuck, what was my point?
