It appears Tampa Bay has won the bidding right for Japanese third baseman Akinori Iwamura. The Devil Rays reportedly outbid the Indians, San Diego and Boston for the left-handed hitter. The Yakult Swallows, Iwamura's club, are expected to announce the winning bid Wednesday or Thursday. DRaysBay

Pointless move I think. They already have Wigginton, Cantu, and Upton in the infield with some other players that will battle for the final spot. If I were them, I'd spend the money on pitching... they're lineup is pretty good all-around.

I would think their plan for him is to use him in one of the middle infield spots. Keep Upton at Third, DH Wigginton, play Cantu at second and Iwamura at Shortstop for example.
